What you can expect
See the desert with fresh eyes during a jet boat excursion that features a cowboy-style barbecue and a thrilling light show. A seasoned skipper ushers you down the Colorado River, and then treats you to a tasteful outdoor performance that makes use of natural wattage, shadows, music, and narration.
As afternoon stretches toward evening, leave Moab in your rearview mirror and head to a put-in site along the banks of the Colorado River. Near the boat launch, indulge in a tasty cowboy-style meal with dishes like slow-roasted beef, pork, and chicken. Vegetarian options include baked beans, spring vegetables, and a salad with plenty of toppings.
Following your meal, the light grows soft and you venture aboard a flat-bottom boat. Cruise down the Colorado River and watch the sandstone escarpments turn petal-pink in the evening light. See the stars start to twinkle overhead while the sun sinks beneath the horizon and a hush settles on the desert.
Next, prepare for the sound and light show. During the performance, your guide uses natural sources to illuminate a canyon wall. There, the story of the American West unfolds. Hear of Catholic conquistadors and Mormon pioneers during an interesting rendition of westward expansion in the contiguous United States.
