Louisiana is a multifaceted state, blending the Texas-flavored west of Shreveport with the Deep South charm of New Orleans. When you need to get from one region to the other quickly, Orbitz can help you find the cheapest flights from Shreveport to New Orleans.
Shreveport is the third largest city in Louisiana and the regional heart of Ark-La-Tex, the area where the three states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas meet. It is built on the banks of the famous Red River where it met the Texas Trail and served as a pioneer gateway to Texas for decades. Today Shreveport is served primarily by the Shreveport Regional Airport, about four miles south of the city. This airport is easily reached by taking I-20 west to Exit 13. The daily parking lot costs $8 per day. The Quick Park lot adjacent to the terminal is $10 daily.
Taxis from the Louis Armstrong Airport are reasonably priced at about $33 for a ride to the business district, which is adjacent to the French Quarter and close to many other attractions. You can also catch an airport shuttle to your hotel downtown for about $20 per person. If all your business is downtown, this is probably a better option than a rental car as parking downtown is often hard to find. New Orleans is a great city for walking around. Most of the French Quarter is designed primarily for walking. Even outside the French Quarter, you’ll find that most attractions are within easy walking distance of downtown or reachable via a short public transportation trip. A short walk from the French Quarter across the Business District is Riverfront, where you’ll find the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and several riverboats that cruise during the day and night. Harrah’s Casino and other adult entertainment spots are just across the street as well. New Orleans has a robust streetcar system providing transportation to other nearby attractions like the Audubon Zoo for fares ranging from $1.25 one way to $20 for a five-day pass. In the French Quarter, you’ll find dozens of bars, restaurants, and tiny shops. At Jackson Square, performers and artists line the streets, while the Farmers Market and the famous Café Du Monde introduce you to the flavors of laid-back New Orleans. To best experience this part of the city, focus on the Jackson Square area during the day and the rest of the French Quarter at night.
