If you are not driving, the easiest way to get to JFK or LaGuardia is on the New York Airport Service bus, which leaves from outside of Grand Central Terminal. The bus costs less than $20 per person. To travel to Newark, the Olympia Airport Express shuttle offers a direct route for $15. If you are traveling at rush hour, the ride can take up to 3 hours. During busy times, you can travel faster on the subway to JFK or the AirTrain Network to Newark. If you are driving, short- and long-term parking is available at all three airports. At JFK and Newark, parking is $18 per day in the economy lot. LaGuardia parking is $33 per day for the first two days and $18 for each subsequent day. The airport in Salt Lake City is located about 7 miles west of the downtown area, just off of Interstate Highway 80. If you plan to drive during your stay in Utah, all of the major car rental companies have outlets at the airport. Using public transportation, you can get into the city on the UTA bus, which runs to the central transit center in Salt Lake City. From there, you can connect to Amtrak trains, city buses, the TRAX train system or Greyhound buses. The ride costs less than $3 per person. Several hotels in the city offer free transportation from the airport, and taxis go to the downtown area for about $25. The ride into the city takes about 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Salt Lake City's seasons have dramatic temperature differences. In the winter, temperatures frequently drop to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. The city gets very little snow; if you are planning to ski or snowboard, the nearby mountains experience significant snowfall. Summers in Salt Lake City are hot, and temperatures often rise above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

A number of world-class ski resorts sit in the mountains surrounding the city, including Deer Valley, Park City and Brighton.
