Clean room, nice staff

Multiple floors with hallway views looking down into the inside court yard

We booked this hotel for a three night stay in Springfield. Upon arrival at the hotel, the front desk staff would not honor my prepaid orbitz reservation. I waited to speak to the manager for about 40 minutes and then was given a choice of paying for the room again or going somewhere else. I also was unable to get anyone from Orbitz to answer the phone during this 40 minute window. We had been on the road for 9 hours and we were extremely tired and hungry so I just paid again for the room. I asked to have the general manager Tice or Ty call me. I actually got his cell from the front desk and left a message myself. I walked down to the desk more than once to try to talk to him and during our stay he never bothered to return my call to apologize or to try to make the situation right. We finally got a live person from Orbitz on the phone to issue a refund. The room was less than sanitary and very dated. There were some weird spots and debris in the shower and on the shower curtain. The hotel had free coffee during the week but Saturday morning they charge for a cup of their crappy coffee. The hotel is in a nice location but it is worn and needs some attention and staff training. This was our second time to stay at the property in Springfield and it will be our last. There was long line at the desk when we were trying to check out so we just left the keys. I have still not received an email with my guest portfolio receipt to make sure it is accurate.

They only had one working elevator and the property was sold out.

It was good enough. A bit run down, no modern considerations like convenient places to plug in your phone chargers. Air conditioning barely works so we were hot (even after being moved to a different room with “working” ac). Clean, comfortable beds at least! But we will choose a different place to stay next time. If they do some renovations we would try again some day.

Wouldn’t know because when I arrived I had no room!

I thought the place seems very dirty. I will not stay there again.

The bathroom shower was falling apart. It seemed to be clean, but outdated.

Location and overall design of lobby, room layout..

The staff was top notch! Every interaction was excellent and they were above and beyond helpful. Our room needed a thorough update and deep clean. Stains on the carpet, walls, ceiling etc. The shower tile has definitely seen better days. For the cost, I was disappointed in the condition of the room. I give it a pleasing solely based on the amazing and gracious staff.

It would be more useful and happy a microwave oven in the room.

It was fine - a slight cigarette smell periodically, which is kind of expected these days, in Missouri anyway.

We have stayed here before. It’s really close to Hammond Field so we can walk to the game and don’t have to worry about parking. We have asked for different options before and never received them(not such a big deal we stopped staying here) We like to be on the parking lot side of the building on a higher floor. This time we asked to check in early and they did accommodate our request by putting us in another room. I asked which side of the building it was in and neither girl at the front desk really knew nor did they look it up. When I found out it was on the other side of the building then we wanted to be on I walked down and asked if we could just stick to our original room, which come to find out was not on the parking lot side either. The lady at the front said she was new, but she was very nice. The room was clean, but seemed to be loud. Next time we will be staying at the hotel closer to the field.

There had been an electric outage due to storm, so only one computer working. Woman at desk took down orbitz info, but this morning I was billed full charge. When I asked at the desk, I was told I’d have to speak with manager on Monday about refund, instead of immediately correcting it, so have been charged by orbitz and University Plaza.
