Location was great, staff were very friendly and helpful, room was very nice.

ROACHES!!! Booked the room in late September because the price seemed reasonable and it was close to Union Square, but then I attempted to cancel 30 min after I read some reviews (particularly regarding roaches). I spoke with manager named Bilal who refused to cancel and assured me there are no roaches. We stayed for 5 nights in mid-October and encountered roaches twice. The Queen Deluxe room is extremely small and leaves no room to open up luggage, pillows are flat and uncomfortable, and you could hear all the noises from outside at night while trying to sleep. I could have overlooked these items but the roaches are unsanitary. After we arrived back home I called Bilal to inform him of the roaches and rather than him apologize for our experience he instead stated that he didn't believe me because I didn't immediately inform him. I even told him I have pictures of the roaches where you can clearly see that it's the room and I would email them to him. This is why I decided to write this, because I feel insulted with his insinuation. If the Owner reads this review hopefully he can reach out to me and properly apologize.

Room was pleasantly comfortable, clean, and quiet; had the basic necessities. The retro elevator definitely adds to the quirky aesthetic of the hotel.

Bed size was not listed as advertised. Bathroom was filthy, room was filthy . Site Language did not make it clear that toilet was shared with other hotel occupants. Awful experience and unprofessional ownership would not refund our second night even though we canceled it

The room is cozy but comfortable. The elevator is an oldie thing and not so smooth. But a pleasant to stay.

I do not recommend staying at this hotel at all. My friend and I stayed in the twin bunk room set up, which is what I originally booked. To start with, I would like to say that I had little expectations for this hotel, since it’s a couple of stars and for the price. I booked this after reading its reviews, but the reviews significantly overestimated it. I was not expecting A/C because when booking, I read that there would be no A/C. That being said, the room had a ceiling fan. I know you’re thinking, that’s better than nothing, right? Wrong. When you have a bunk bed, and someone is sleeping on the bottom bunk, that person isn’t exactly feeling much of the fan’s effects. Being here at the end of August, the room would get warm during the day. Nights were better, since we left the window open and weather would be cool then. The bunk beds did not use traditional mattresses and had foam pads instead. These were the kind of foam pads used in my college dorm, and sleeping on this resulting in my back being in bad shape throughout our stay. The shared toilet setup was also very inconvenient in that the trash would get filled very quickly and overflowed. There was never soap provided and no air fresheners. When one is expected to share a toilet with several other people, all of the above are necessary. The WIFI did not function. I’m not even referring to a weak signal. Everything was nice except the fire alarm went off at like midnight for a few seconds scared the crap out of us! and there is a club next door you can hear the music

The reviews of this place seemed hit or miss so we didn't expect a lot going in (we're local and just needed a place to crash for the night in the city), but all in all, we were very pleasantly surprised and would totally stay here again! I called in the daytime to let them know that we would be checking in late (close to midnight), and they said it wouldn't be a problem. We had a late dinner with friends and ended up checking in around 11:30pm. Front desk guy was nice, checked us in with no problem. The elevator is the old-style one that you find in some buildings in SF, rickety and quaint. We stayed in a Deluxe Room, so we had our own bathroom. It looks like they've remodeled recently--everything in the hallways and room looked really clean and new, and the decor is modern. The room is just a tiny bit bigger than a queen-sized bed, with a sink in the corner and a bathroom with toilet and standing shower. We were on the 3rd floor, and we could hear some of the street noise from the window (it sounds like there is a dueling piano bar nearby), but that's part of the character of the location and it wasn't loud. Bed was comfy. The shower was hot and strong. They provided toiletries and and there was a coffee maker too. Check out was easy too. I think they're family run, so I could imagine what some of the negative reviewers are saying are true, but I think that if you're nice to people, they'll be nice back. To sum it up, we had a great stay here!

very bad hotel stay
