Neighborhood has a lot of homeless people, but then so does much of San Francisco, even near the big fancy hotels. However, they are not hostile so don't let this distract you from staying here. That said, if urban blight worries you, maybe this isn't a good choice, but you'd be missing out. Great value and there is use of a gym and an heated outdoor pool at their sister hotel literally across the street. An outdoor heated pool in San Francisco that is complimentary for hotel guests. Don't pass up on The Carriage Inn. Minor issues: n my last night there, cigarette smoke came in through the bathroom ceiling vent. It was late so I didn't bother reporting it and just closed bathroom door. No big deal, but not particularly pleasant either. And the lady who works the front desk at nights was either always blaring music, or on her 'phone and simply doesn't acknowledge guests. Odd.

We were very impressed with the clean rooms, bed and bath. Plus the beds were very comfortable! The price was very good for the quality! Very friendly, helpful staff, especially Brian, who helped us greatly when we first arrived. Thank you!

We liked that this property was unique. It had a retro feel. Both desk staff were great.

The location is the only gripe I have. It is right next door to the Civic Center where all the homeless people like to hang out, especially on the weekend it seems. The hotel itself was clean and had an interesting theme with different historical figures for each room. Ours was the Patty Hearst room and had a little biography on a piece of typewritten paper in the bedroom. I thought that was very neat.

Clean, attractive rooms and nice beds. Courteous staff.

Pool is NOT on site, but it's actually across the street at another hotel

The room is nice and big. However the location is not really safe

Lovely, clean, comfortable room. The neighborhood was a bit rough around the edges. Easy walk to union square.

Stayed here overnight with 3 other friends for the G-Eazy concert. The front desk staff were very nice and professional and the room was extremely clean and cozy. The overnight stay was a great price and I definitely will be coming back to stay at the hotel again.

I t is a nice hotel ,nice and clean rooms , close to a Chinatown , BART and other public transportation.

Orbitz online pre arranged. Convenient parking beneath the building. Only negative was: provided wifi was above my ability to connect to and tv was small with minimal channel selection.

It was a pleasant stay for the weekend. Will staye there in the future

Stay at the hotel every year for the last 3 years for annual mtgs.

bad services and bad location. you has to paid for parking and the stafs neve were attention our requirements

Great location for us, near our son's apartment. Comfortable room, friendly staff, good amenities. Parking a bit expensive, but expensive everywhere in this area.

not the first time at this hotel. as always the staff is great. the location is close to all transit, the nieghborhood is improving though some will find fault. I will stay again

Room was perfect. The bed was extremely comfortable. Uniquely decorated.

The room looks great and is very comfortable. Highly recommended.

We only stayed one night in the city, so for that, the price was good. We didn't realize this hotel partners with the best western across the street so we could have used their pool, if only we had brought our suits. Cute little hotel with themed rooms made it unique and memorable. I would recommend this hotel.
