Cute & quaint rooms. Very modern and clean. Nice and calm ambience. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Great Happy Hour menu! Would have liked more clarification on where to get water and ice for the room and where to park. Remote for Netflix/Hulu did not work.

I loved the vibe of the Pearl hotel. It all all my checks on my list. Walking distance to many Greta places in the area. Staff very friendly and quick with service if you needed anything. Already planning my next trip to San Diego and will stay here again (:

It was a convenient location for dining and walking. It is also convenient to points of interest. Staff was courteous and accommodating.

It’s barely a step up from a motel 6. The person ha during checkin was rude and unhelpful. The bathroom in the room was disgusting.

In my opinion the place was very shabby and didn’t look at all like the pictures in the post on Orbitz. Paint pealing off of cheap furniture broken irons (2) and a confounding wall mounted air conditioning unit next to the wall which was terrible for sleeping (too warm without and then when turned on freezing and noisy). The grounds were also unclean. I asked for a refund of the second night promptly in the morning after the first nigh and the manager and Orbitz would not do it. Horrible experience.

The hotel is cute and comfortable. The staff people were all great. Dinner at the restaurant was quite good. But the place is SO VERY LOUD. The rooms overlook the restaurant and bar -- that was quite loud. Even worse, they showed a movie that started at 8 p.m. -- the screen was just outside my window so between the lights of the movie, the noise of the movie, and the noise of the crowd and the restaurant it was impossible to sleep or even rest until very late. Then the heavy traffic starting very early in the morning (about 5 a.m.) made it impossible to stay asleep. So -- all in all, a nice place unless you want to sleep. Maybe they should invest in some soundproofing.

Loved this mid century modern hotel. Old school motel modernized to create a hip vibe. Great location; walk to the bay, Short drive to Ocean Beach or sunset cliffs, which is magnificent! Free coffee service in the lounge and a small but heated salt water pool. Service was terrific-there was construction behind the hotel so they comped the daily parking fee, which was thoughtful. Take earplugs as the evening bar scene may make it loud on the property.

Walls felt paper thin. Especially when they were playing their nightly movie. I'm sure it was great and loud for the the crowd at the bar but for the couple in the room that had been on a plane most of the day, it just kept us up. If you need Ice, water, soda etc. you have to go to the bar and ask them for it. This is a hotel for people to stop by and have a drink or eat but not to sleep. The noise level ran high until midnight and construction started at 7am.For the price you can get a room closer to the water and a room you can move around in.

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at the Pearl hotel. Close to Shelter Island and within walking distance to restaurants, bars and the bay. The hotel bar/restaurant had amazing food and drinks if you don't feel like walking. My only complaint was the traffic noise in our room. It was really loud in the morning, making it hard to sleep in but with so much to do that wasn't a problem.

This is a cool spot. Staff is super friendly and while the rooms are small and not very sound-proof, the style and aesthetic of the place made up the difference. Within walking distance of most anything you'd need and otherwise situated well as a takeoff spot to do anything else you'd want in the city and beach areas.

I went to SDCC and picked this hotel because it was far away from all the noise of downtown. I resonated with the aesthetics of the place and I've always wanted to stay here and see what it was like. Overall I had a good experience however there were little quirks that stood out to me. My key cards weren't functional after the first day so I had to get them reactivated (I've had this issue at several hotels so it's not just The Pearl). They wanted me to pay for parking, which to be fair wasn't a lot of money, but the rooms weren't cheap either. Plus street parking is free so why bother? There were no bedside outlets. There wasn't a door to the shower so the whole bathroom floor would get wet. The AC unit is such a stark contrast to the rest of the room's aesthetics which is a shame (although in a SD heat wave who really cares). There wasn't a mini fridge. But all of these minor inconveniences aside, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. This definitely get points for aesthetics, just know that you're giving up on certain conveniences.

Hotel is older, but has been renovated. Rooms are clean and spacious. The shower heads are too low if your over 5 foot and if you want hot water, its not much pressure. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

What a fantastic experience! We wanted to find a fun spot for our 15th anniversary and The Pearl was it! The room was fun, comfortable and the bathroom amenities were wonderful. We checked in, had already reserved a parking place (which I would strongly recommend) and were able to get a table out by the pool for our dinner. The food and wine were excellent quality and a good value. There were a few parties going on around the hotel, but they seemed to quiet down right around 11 or 12. All in all, a wonderful experience. So much so that we booked another night next month for their Dive-In Theatre.

You need to understand what kind of place this is. It's got a fun vibe to it. You need to be able to appreciate the design sense that's everywhere. If you can get into that this is a cool place to stay. Room is a bit snug--who cares? Built ins are modern and efficient. It's clean, staff is friendly. We did happy hour and small plates at the restaurant out by the pool and had a blast.

Was such a delight. My boyfriend and I will definitely stay there again

This was a special $99 a night. Opened door to room stepped in and almost ran into the wall on the other side of room. These rooms were small. Giant TV on wall. Only trouble was we were about 5 feet from screen.ambience was their theme, I get it, but you went a bit overboard.

This is a really nice hotel. There are some restaurants nearby. It's takes 10 minutes drive to the bench. You can find a golden fish in the room. It's really interesting.

Great room very stylish. Super nice staff. Parking is a bit hard. Food is great. Pool and bar area are fun.

We had a great time, dinner and a movie at the pool Wednesday night, its right by the marina, pet fish in the hotel room, the room is very clean and nice, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Be prepared to pay $10 for parking and don't make the mistake i did and ask for a room with a patio/balcony! Pretty sure we got the only room without one when we went and thats my only complaint.

Hi, Thank you so much for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. It is unfortunate to hear that your stay was less than stellar due to our weekly Dive In that we host every Wednesday at 8pm. We start the movie at 8pm because that is when it is typically dark enough outside for the projection to show on the screen above the pool. Our movies run anywhere from 90 - 120 minutes on average, so the movies end when our bar and restaurant are closing, because we do take noise into consideration for those who are staying with us. On a Wednesday evening, the restaurant closes at 10pm and last call for the bar is at 10:30pm, so we may close up at 11p. When the movie is over the volume for the music gets turned down to indicate closing time and the projector gets turned off about 10:30p as well. All rooms do have black out curtains, including the 5 rooms whose windows look out to the pool deck. We are centrally located on a busy street that is in a residential and commercial neighborhood, so we can understand the noise of the cars passing early in the morning. We do have earplugs at the front desk for our guests, as again, we understand that the placement of our hotel is not ideal for those seeking pure quietness. We are extremely sorry to hear that The Pearl was not the best match for you. Again, we thank you for your review.
