In addition to some great pet-friendly hotels in the city, there are plenty of dog parks, pet shops, and restaurants that accommodate for your furry friend’s needs. The city’s nickname gives away just how ideal it is for a vacation with your pet. After all, Sacramento is the ‘city of trees’.
Sacramento offers a system of parks and green areas spanning over 5000 acres all together, and many of these include fenced in areas for your four-legged friend to run around and play in. The parks listed below are all unleashed dog parks, with a double gate system for safety reasons. Some even have tennis ball launchers for you and your pet to have fun with.
In the north of the city, you will find the Valley Oak Dog Park, which is split in two. There is one fenced in area for larger dogs, and a separate one for the smaller ones. Also in the North lies the Regency Community Park and Tanzanite Community Park. Next, Sutter Landing’s Park, in the central area of Sacramento boasts of two separate areas for your furry friend to play in. Plus, it is only a 20 minute walk away from Fort Sutter State Historical Park, where dogs are allowed inside the fort and on the land within the walls. Nearby, you will also find University Avenue Dog Park, and Partner Park.
Further south in Sacramento, you can bring your four-legged friend to play in Jacinto Creek Park, and the Lynn Robie Dog Park. The latter has a separate area for small dogs, turf areas for big and small dogs alike.
