Very helpful staff and wonderful and clean hotel in the historic district of downtown Freehold. I’ve been very happy with my stay here. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.

An interesting old building, convenient walk to nearby restaurants, stores. Close by but crowded Sat. Night parking.

Very nice hotel with renovated rooms, friendly staff, comfortable bed and good HVAC controls. Fireplace in lobby, Piano player from 5-8PM when we stayed, upscale restaurant with good food and generous portions. We were warned by the staff at check in that Friday nights there is a DJ from 9PM until Midnight and really that was my only complaint. We thought maybe we would be spared because our room was on the second floor all the way in the back but the music comes right upstairs, right down the hall. The noise really didn't bother us around 10PM but we were woken up by what must have been an awesome party with the DJ trying to encourage the crowd between 11PM and midnight. If you like to dance at the club late at night I'm sure it would have been a lot of fun. Mercifully the music seemed to stop promptly around midnight and then the hotel was mostly quiet. Wish there was a way to isolate the noise downstairs from the rooms upstairs on the weekend because otherwise our stay was a great experience.

The accommodated my last minute early check in request by upgrading my room.

It's a very nice hotel. We didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant, but the food looked really good. There was a piano player and then live entertainment afterwards. We went to another show so didn't get to stay, but it seemed like fun. Would definitely go back if I had to be in that area.

Great location, nice local hotel with amenities. Only negative was that our room on the 2nd floor was damp and musty. Seems odd for upper floor but it was. Best pillows ever!

Nice staff. Delicious breakfast. Great first hotel experience for my sons.

Clean and centrally located in freehold. No gym, not much of a continental breakfast. Very noisey bar area at night echoes through halls.

Nice lobby, good continental breakfast, dark depressing room with one window view of smoke stacks!

This is our second stay with American Hotel and we have nothing but positive things say about it. The staff is always so welcoming at the front desk and the rooms are exceptionally clean which is my biggest concern when staying at a hotel. We travel with two kids ages 8 and 11 and this hotel the perfect accommodation for all of us. The best part there are great restaurants right outside the door so you don't have to go very far. We stay here when we go to six Flags Great Adventure and its about a 15 minute drive which is super easy. Looking forward to our next day!

This was a wonderful stay. Very clean and quiet. Breakfast was a little light but other than that everything was great.

The staff was very welcoming. The parking was easy and close by. Also you can't beat the continental breakfast

i have stayed at the nearby Radisson for years, but will now stay at the American Hotel in Freehold. nothing wrong with Radisson... but this hotel was just really nice. There are only 20 rooms, recently renovated. right in the small downtown area. steps away from restaurants and shopping. you don't have to get back in your car once you get settled in. front desk staff was very friendly... even remembered my name! price includes a really nice continental breakfast, which at most places is pretty blah... here it was just great... good quality fresh fruit, real bagels (not frozen) and other fresh bakery items (nothing from a box). also had plenty of cereal, coffee and other typical items. it's a tiny space, not a good spot for a crowd... but other than that, very enjoyable. The room was nice, bed comfortable, all the 'usual' stuff. definitely recommend.

Great location and lovely rooms, but it is the staff, who went above and beyond for us, who made it great. Will stay here again for sure!

Exceptional nice appointments in all areas of the hotel. The only issue was the person at the front desk was very cold and unwelcoming.

Thank you for the nice review and feedback on our boutique hotel. Glad you like our location and our pillows! We did have alot of humidity the last 2 months which may have caused the mustiness in your room. I will look into this and work to improve/fix the situation. Thank you for the information and we hope you come to visit us again soon.

Thank you for the rating on our boutique hotel. We are centrally located on Main Street in downtown Freehold with a lot in walking distance. We have music on Friday and Saturday nights and it does carry upstairs to the hotel rooms. I am sorry if the music and noise disturbed your stay. We do appreciate your feedback and hope to come back to visit us again soon.

Glad you enjoyed our lobby and our complimentary continental breakfast. I am sorry you were not happy with the view outside your room. We are a downtown hotel surrounded by buildings. We do have a few rooms in the front of the hotel with views of Main Street. If you decide to stay with us again, please ask if one of those rooms are available. We would be happy to have you back.
