Right by the beach, the ADO bus, the ferry to Cozumel, and the big shopping district. Quaint and comfortable. Loved it there.

Cute hotel. Staff was very nice and helpful. The rooftop was a great place to go and hang out. If I return to Playa del Carmen, I will definitely stay again. Plus, the restaurant was excellent

The hotel advertising is completely different than the facts. Dirty and outdated hotel. The most uncomfortable beds in the world. The mattress over 10 years old. Very old construction and the rooms are similar to a MOTEL in a third world country.

I spent 5 days there. The price was a little higher than most. This is my second time in Playa. This hotel showed this beautiful sitting area from the roof where you could see everything. A continental breakfast. Beautiful spanish motif. If all this had been offered as shown it may have been worth the price but this was not the case. The beautiful sitting area from the roof was under construction so it was unable to be used. No where in the offer did it mention that. The pounding from the construction was very disturbing if a guest was to stay in the hotel during the day. This rooftop view was one of the reasons I chose this hotel. The continental breakfast which even on the poorest terms usually consists of some sort of breakfast items, fruit ,donuts ,biscuits, cereal maybe some milk and oatmeal.Something that could at least possibly fill someone for a short period of time. The breakfast which they called continental breakfast consisted of toast .That's it .Just toast and coffee or juice. I don't feel they should have advertised a free breakfast at all if that is what they were serving. The rooms were fair and also looked like they were under construction. The shower faucet was hanging out of the wall and the lamp that was by the bed appeared to have a short in it.The plumbing by the sink was loose. The paint job was poor. Some of the bathrooms are very small. I felt very misled by their advertising. There are better hotels out there for less. The two good things I can say about it were the location was close to the beach and 5th ave. The staff was extremely helpful , friendly and accommodating including the waiters at the restaurant next door and the cleaning woman on duty. They always had a smile on their faces and very courteous. To them I give 5 stars . The hotel I give a 1. I was very disappointed for I felt they offered one thing and I ended up in a half finished loud construction zone. Not worth the money . Be honest to your customers. Don't offer things you can't deliver.

Stayed 2 nights May 1& 2, 2015. Turn out to be a great place. Walk a few feet from the hotel to shop and eat along 5th Ave. Employees were all super nice and went out of their way to answer all my question and assist us. A.big plus was that is was quiet And very clean. Received 50 off breakfast with the restaurant next door. Overall a great stay at a reasonable price.

We've stayed at the Hotel Cielo several times. This is a clean family-run hotel, with a connected restaurant (with really good food). It's right off of 5th Avenue, with easy access to everything.

The people at the front desk were bilingual and very helpful. They went out of the way to make sure we are ok. LOCATION is excellent if you are not going to rent a car. On the down side, there is no table in the room. Flushing system in the toilet is kinda slow. There is no gym, no swimming pool.

Hotel Cielo is right next to quinta avenida and two blocks to the beach! Wonderful location close to shops and restaraunts. Atm right on the corner which was very convenient. Room was average size with private bathroom. VERY clean. The bed was quite comfortable. You will get 50% off at breakfast next door at carboncitos and 10% off on lunch and dinner. It was delicious! The staff is very friendly and helpful with whatever you need! Miguel helped us look up our flight info, as there is no computer for guest use, but he was so great! He even booked us a taxi at 4am! If you are ok without all the frills of a modern hotel, this authentic hotel is just the ticket for your stay in Playa del Carmen!

If you are looking for a five star hotel with all the ammenities, staff that speaks perfect accent-free English, a room with a view (at least the room I stayed in), and solid wi-fi look elsewhere. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a great deal; friendly, accomodating staff, and clean rooms with spotty wi-fi, you've found the best hotel! I don't need all of the fancy stuff. I just need a clean room and friendly staff, and that's what I found at Hotel el Cielo. The staff where happy to give suggestions on where to eat and play. They were more than accomodating in this area, and that's what I really needed in this trip. Oh, and don't miss the roof-top gardens. They are unbeatable!

We enjoyed the simplicity, cleanliness and convenient location of Hotel Cielo

Hotel Cielo is an incredible place to stay if you want somewhere that feels very "Mexican". It's not your typical resort or posh hotel. The layout is really interesting, rooms are all unique, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. And the location is unbeatable. I would stay here again in a second.

Thank you for taking time to review our charming hotel. You have summed up very accurately what we sincerely want our guests to expect when staying with us. We do apologize for the WIFI interruption. After our many failed attempts, we were able to restore and improve all of our Wifi access points. You will certainly notice the difference if you are visiting us again. Thank you again and we hope you visit us again.

Thank you for your straightforward comments. We do appreciate your honesty. Our small hotel is based on the spanish colonial home which is a monumental characteristic of the Mexican heritage. We are intelligibly branded as an authentic hacienda hotel and work proudly to conserve it to the highest of standards. Though the design is of a memorable time, we do offer the conveniences of modern living. It is unfortunate that we were not able to meet your expectations but we hope you understand that the terracotta roof, stucco walls, mediterranean arches, clean and shiny Talevera tiles and antique art and lanterns are all part of true mexican experience. We also have one of the best mexican restaurants in town, Carboncitos to complete the experience.
