It is a gorgeous old building from the late 1700s and is decorated with beautiful antiques throughout and in each room. There’s a beautiful courtyard where they hold concerts and parties. The night I was there they had a string quartet in the central courtyard playing Bach and Beatles tunes. Absolutely magical. And the crumb cake at breakfast is to die for!

What an amazing historical place to stay! I’m glad I chose this place over the local chain hotels. The beauty of old architecture and centuries of history made our stay a wonderful part of our trip.

Architecture, history, charm and character of the property were wonderful, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

It was full of history. We were transported back to the late 1700’s with all the modern conveniences of today. The Service was superb! We will stay again when in Philadelphia. We regretted having to check out and checking into a well known name brand hotel across town where a conference was held. We would have stayed here if it was closer and walked to the conference.

If you like character and want to getaway from chains... stay here. You feel like you are really living in the "old city" Location is perfect for historic area. A note that there is no elevator if your room is on 3rd floor, as ours was, it is a bit of a hike. Also a bit disappointed that the adjacent bar closed at 10:00 on a Friday night. The outdoor patio is cozy and very pretty. We plan to return in winter so we can enjoy fireplaces!

Beautifully renovated historic building. Such a refreshing change from the "cookie cutter" chain hotels, the Morris House Hotel is filled with charm and character. The room was comfortable and the breakfast served on tables with white table cloths and napkins. Lovely downstairs sitting room for guest's use. I would stay there again and definitely recommend it.

Very historic hotel! Awesome room! The only problem was that the hotel resided just on top of the metro line and it was trembling each time the subway passes by and that was frequent.

This is our third stay at Morris Hotel. Great stay and reasonably priced. The free breakfast and tea and cookies in the afternoon was a nice touch.

We loved this hotel. It's in a very old building (built in 1787 I think) and has lots of charm. The staff was very friendly, the building was great, and the breakfast was awesome. It's very conveniently located as well. It's a couple blocks away from all the historic sights, and it's also a few blocks away from the subway stop if you want to go down to see a sports game. Also, visit the M Restaurant while you're there. The food was great and the staff were so nice and fun to talk to! We'll definitely be staying here again the next time we're in Philadelphia!

Authentic historic home with a lot of charm. Staff was very friendly & knowledgeable about city. Breakfast was ok, but afternoon tea (or coffee) & cookies were a nice touch. Mini suite was comfortable.

We chose the Morris House Hotel because of the location but fell in love with it because of its beauty and staff. Everyone was super nice. We arrived late and the gentleman at the desk was so kind and helped me up the stairs with my luggage. You are in walking distance to every thing you need. I would recommend this hotel

I was searching for a place where I could recharge my life. A peaceful, quiet place surrounded by my love of history. To compliment my desire, of a few restful day's, the details of tea time and wine were lovely. My desire to merge myself in the history of our country returning to rest in the beautiful Morris Hotel was divine. Instead of leaving the history in the streets of Philadelphia I was able to continue living history in a nicely decor comfortable hotel room. Traveling to historical places in the US is one of my resent pleasures. This has been the first time I stayed in a historical building which enriched my journey through history.

I wanted to be in a historic hotel in the historic district; wow, I hit a home run. I liked the place, the staff and the restaurant. Only complaint - restaurant and bar closed on Monday night. Good breakfast, very strong coffee (l like this). Price seemed fair to me. thank you.

This place was all about our Philly trip. We were 2 girl to stay one night in Phiily for the first time and fully enjoyed the hotel. the place was great and huge and clean, Peoples are too much nice! haha one thing to let you know, by booking on their own web site, you can get better option to choose. I will definitely recommend anyone around me who will visit and stay in downtown Philly. Also, if you stay with them, can get afternoon tea tiem with their sown baked cookies at lobbi dining room. Breakfast was also quite ok!

No only a charming historic building but this hotel has all I need for a business stay: clean, comfortable rooms, reliable wireless internet, excellent quality continental breakfast, responsive and friendly staff, central location in town and close to regional rail/subway. Would be excellent for a pleasure visit too.

I really liked everything about the hotel except for the shower. Very small and water temp control was impossible. The location cannot be beat if you want to tour the historic museums and find great restaurants nearby.

My husband needed to get away from the stresses of his work so I planned a surprise overnight getaway for him. I found Morris House Hotel online and it was just what I wanted. When I pulled the car up in front of the hotel, he said in awe, "is this where we're staying?" We both love historical places and this place is packed with it. The concierge was able to tell us about the history of the house and also stories about the restoration. It has been tastefully restored with all the comforts of home. It's my ideal place! History in comfort and style!

Unique spot, worlds above your average hotel. Colonial building re-done with real charm. Terrific staff.' Couldn't have been more pleased.

I couldn't have asked for more. Comfortable, friendly, with a great location. The staff was so helpful and polite. It was just a great place if you love the history of Phily. Was not impressed at all with the restaurant next to the hotel. There are so many other good places to eat in the surounding area and within walking distance that doesn't matter. I plan on returning next year.

Thank you sharing! We love to tell the story of this amazing 1787 Georgian-colonial home and the family who lived here for six generations.

Thank you for your nice words! The Morris House is an outstanding example of Georgian-colonial architecture. Our many museums, historic sites and restaurants are now re-opened. Two of my favorites...the Museum of the American Revolution, and The Dream Garden - Maxfield Parrish's mural masterpiece, made of thousands of pieces of stained glass, executed by the Tiffany Studios. Its home is the Curtis Building, just steps away from our hotel. Hope you'll come back soon to visit!
