It was near a lot of shopping and eating options. It was also near several subway stations. We enjoy walking and there was a lot available to us within walking distance. The staff was wonderful and always kind and helpful. It was clean throughout.

The hotel was right in midtown. Close to theaters and shopping and popular restaurants. What I didn’t like, the hotel didn’t clean your room for you while you were out. They would bring up clean towels and sheets but you had to change the bed sheets yourself. I mean for the $600 I spent for the weekend that should have been done. I’ve stayed in other hotels in NYC during the pandemic and they cleaned the room. Also what I didn’t like upon checkout the hotel charged me $50 for the internet and WiFi and the B.S. continental breakfast. I guess these hotels are trying every little bit they can to make back money lost during the shut down. The rooftop restaurant was ok. It needs a larger menu. The dish I had penne with shrimp was a good portion and they didn’t skimp on the shrimp. Overall I’d choose a different place to stay next time

Alright. Well. Soooo many great reviews on this hotel that I was incredibly disappointed. Let's start out with the reception... waiting 10 minutes for someone to show up at the desk. No one else is around so we can't really ask. My stay- Orbitz blames the hotel. The hotel blames Orbitz. Point is... I paid extra for a double queen room and all I got was a single room. I go to the room.... teeny tiny little thing- I have to share my bed with a friend because they messed up the booking and there were no other rooms available (on the website it showed multiple openings.) Incredibly embarrassing situation for me to be in with a friend. Now 3 days sleeping in the same bed in a hotel room that is soo tiny you can barely walk in. And then... the sheets. Dude. Like seriously. Coffee stain on the comforter. -_-. I didn't deep dive into the rest of the sheets. "Breakfast" the next morning, granola bar, coffee or juice and a muffin. That's what they take to your room. lol You're thinking eggs or something? Nah... this 4 star hotel can't do that. Thennnnnnn I ask to be added to the list for the Sushi Lab--- the front desk receptionist says "I'm on the list" that was a fail. The next day I try again for Haven--- the front desk receptionist on this day (a sweetheart) calls the guy in the front like 10 times and no answer. Welp-- no dinner at the Haven either for me, screw that I'm a hotel guest. The guy in the front says not to hold my breath. To go elsewhere. Geeze.

so it looks cute, mood lighting, trendy decor. STAFF WAS LOVELY!!! but honestly it’s small and rundown. the photos are extremely deceiving. Rooms are impossibly small. Empty minibar, drawers had previous guests clothing in them. “Lobby” is currently under construction. We could have stayed a week at the Hilton with what we paid for 1 night at sanctuary.

1. Pictures for this hotel are highly deceiving- are not even close. 2. don't believe that there is breakfast included and don't even bother paying for it in your daily rate: upon check in , the person at the front desk said: "oh you have breakfast" - yeah, we do. So he put us on some roster and said that due to Covid, we will bring you the breakfast to your room but he never asked what we actually like. I found it a little strange but did not say anything. The next morning, we are waiting for our breakfast and it never arrived. When I called the front desk, the person got annoyed with me and said that for some reason we were missed on their sheet, he will remove the charge and there is nobody to make breakfast for us - this is at 930am on a Sunday morning at a hotel that advertises "breakfast included" in their rate. 3. Nobody bothers to clean your room. We were hoping for clean towels - none to be found until you call and someone brings them to you. I am a very understanding and easy going person but this was a bit much even for my taste. 4. There is something in the walls like water dripping from the pipes. When it was quiet, you can hear it and it’s impossible to go back to sleep. 5. One good thing- updated bathrooms. But Go elsewhere if you can, avoid this place. I normally don't write bad reviews but this one I just could not let go.

Perfect location. Room was small but very comfortable and very quiet!

This hotel is perfectly named and is a true Sanctuary. I’ll be back with friends and family!

Comfortable, great services, clean and very professional

Great location, service & staff! Loved the decor. Rooftop was a great added convenience

close to theatres and Times Square. Very dark inside hotel and restaurant

The hotel staff was amazing . The food at Haven rooftop was delicious. Will definitely stay there again and refer this hotel to others.

Loved the location of this hotel, it was lovely and very nice ambiance! Tne only thing was with housekeeping ... every day when we returned the beds were made, etc. however trash wasn't taken out, cups of water from the night before weren't picked up. We put a brochure on the floor right by the foot of the bed to see if they'd pick it up, and sure enough we returned and the paper was still on the floor. Very surprised by this.

Very supportive staff. Very welcoming and helpful. The hotel and rooms were very clean. Great location!!! Roof top lounge is wonderful. The only thing I would recommend is a lengthwise mirror for the rooms. I made lots of reservations and needed to dress conservative but could not see myself because there was no mirror besides the one for the bathroom sink. Everything else was great!

Thank you for your review. I apologize you were not completely satisfied with your stay. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions in an effort to stop the spread of the virus, hotels in NYC are not to clean the room during the stay and staff only go into the guestroom 48 hours after the guest checks out. This is to prevent any germs being spread from room to room as the room attendant would need to go into 15-18 rooms per day. The facility fee is explained on the 3rd party website you reserved through which is a standard charge in all city hotels. It covers the breakfasts costs, free local and long distance calls, advance access to the rooftop restaurants, high speed internet access, gym access, concierge services and luggage storage before and after your stay and a portion collected by the website you reserved through. We hope you give us another try so we can show you the improvements that are being made now that we are coming out of the pandemic and allowed to reopen some our our amenities and services

Thank you for reaching out to us. I am sorry for the experience you had. I looked further into your reservation and it appears you booked a Queen Room for Double occupancy which is a standard room with 1 queen bed that sleeps up to 2 people. The hotel does not have rooms with 2 Queen Beds. I am sorry that our COVID restrictions were an inconvenience. We hope the restrictions will come to an end soon

Thank you for your review. We are sorry you were not 100% satisfied. We are currently adjusting the property for the ever changing COVID-19 requirements which includes redesigning our lobby for added social distancing practices to allow our guests to comfortably spread out. Our minibar's in the room have all been emptied so there is no need for extra staff to enter the guestrooms to allow complete sanitization of the room during your stay. However, there is a menu in the room that explains all the minibar items available 24/7 through the hotel front desk. We hope you come back to NYC and give the Sanctuary Hotel another opportunity.

Thank you for your comments. I do apologize that you were not completely satisfied and will be discussing your review with our executive team so we can improve. Currently due to Covid-19 restrictions, so of our usual procedures had to be changed to accommodate guest safety and local regulation. Unfortunately at this time, we can not send housekeeping into occupied rooms to avoid them getting or bringing in any outside germs that can further spread the Covid-19 virus. However if guests do need replacement linens or garbage taken out, our team will be happy to exchange them by the door. Additionally, as indoor dining and buffets are restricted at this time, we are unable to open our breakfast buffet in the main dining room. However we have arranged to have breakfast delivered to all guests in their room upon request between the hours of 6am and 9am. If you wish to further discuss your stay, please do not hesitate to contact the hotel directly and ask to speak to one of the STAR Managers who can further review your reservation details.
