Not the worst place I have ever stayed, but not the best either. Front desk clerk was busy, I get it, but when I pay to stay somewhere, I expect my questions to get answered in a respectful way. I felt like we were just a "reservation". I didn't care much for having to walk across a busy street to get to our room, with our luggage. The clerk failed to tell us we could park over there. Let's talk about the room...It is an old renovated house, with it's fair share of charm. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. The bathroom was not clean. Hair on floors and soap scum in sink. The shower was full of black mold, that is my biggest pet peeve. I expect a clean bathroom, as would anyone. Bottom line is, it was an ok place, but I would not stay here again.

The property was somewhat confusing. Most of us assumed that the entrance into a larger property was accessed through one door of a Victorian house. It took a bit to understand that all the doors were to individual rooms and you had to go search for your room number on a door. Our room happened to be the one people assumed was the entry to the property, but we were not overly bothered by entry attempts. The room itself was nice, with good AC, a functional bathroom, and a not-too-lumpy mattress. It rained a lot when we were there, so we used the rather decrepit-looking bath mat near the front door so that we didn't track water and leaves onto the wood floor. We had to get our keys revitalized twice during our week's stay, which was the only real annoyance. It's a pleasant place in a good location, the housecleaning service was good, and we would stay there again.

Public areas smelled musty. Not what you would expect for a hotel at this price.

We walked to Jackson square, ate at cafe du monte and took cemetery tour, then took taxi back for under $9.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is an old guesthouse and delivers the feel of authentic New Orleans. It could use a little tlc and the bed wasn't the most comfortable, but it was clean and quiet. It's just a short walk to the trolley which gets you to all the action pretty quickly. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance as well. We would definitely stay here again!

We were only in town for one evening to attend a friend's wedding that was in the garden district as well. The hotel staff was welcoming and helpful, the room clean and comfy and the location perfect for us!

I am sorry for your experience. As we are a courtyard style hotel with landscaping on all the walkways to the rooms, from time to time you might have a wiff if such. But its because of the torrential rains and the humidity that week of your stay, the landscape mulch and wood trusses bordering the gardens retained a great deal of moisture which lends itself to a slight outdoor musty aroma. Once the sun came out and all dried out, the scent of spring and the natural bamboo abounded.
