New Orleans is home to many fun activities, and you will be happy to hear that there are plenty of pet-friendly things to do in the city as well. In addition to the many great pet-friendly hotels in New Orleans, there are some great restaurants where you can dine al fresco with your pet, beautiful parks, and even bars where you can experience some of the nightlife in New Orleans without leaving your pet in the hotel.
You will find ‘Yappy Hour’ at Lucy’s Retired Surfer’s Bar every Thursday. From 4pm to 7pm on Thursdays, they serve canine cuisine, making for a great evening with your pet. Other pet-friendly bars and pubs include The Bridge Lounge, The Bulldog, and Cosimo’s Bar.
If you need something with more sustenance, you will also find some great pet-friendly restaurants in New Orleans. Popular examples are Nacho Mama’s, El Gato Negro, the Joint, and La Crepe Nanou. Some welcome pets inside, while others have patio dining where pets can happily relax while you eat.
No need to stay confined to the city center or Jackson Square for daily walks. A recommendation for those who travel to New Orleans with a dog is to rent a car and take the drive out to City Park. This park is about half the size of Central Park, and has a dog park as well, appropriately called the City Bark. Entry to the dog park is only allowed with a permit, so make sure to get one by stopping by the Dog Park Office. There is a small fee to pay for the permit to cover the operation of the dog park. This way, it can be kept in shape for dog owners and their furry friends.
