Overall, I was not in the house that is advertised in the photo. The pool was dirty our entire trip. They didn’t start cleaning it until we physically got there and it was way to dark to go swimming in it. It didn’t start clearing up until the actual day that we were leaving. The house was in poor condition. The walls were peeling in the bathroom. The shower and bathtub was peeling and carried a stench. It literally looked like a family just left and said here you go now you can stay. The interior wasn’t pleasant and the day we left, someone physically came in and left his wallet. I’m assuming he ran out once he realized that we hadn’t checked out yet. It was creepy and we ran out as soon as we saw the wallet. Someone had to be staying in the garage while we were there. We kept hearing noises all the time. I have pictures of the bathroom by the way-gross and disappointing unfortunately

Although the wait staff and breakfast meals were both outstanding, the managerial staff was rude and dismissive to me and my travel companion several times. In addition, the rooms look beautiful in their website photos, but in actuality, the condition of the room was disappointing - holes in the walls, ripped drapes, rusty plumbing, and holes in the floor. The walls were paper thin and we could clearly hear the other guests talking and their TVs in the adjoining rooms. I would not recommend anyone stay here.

I love this place. The staff was very pleasant. Every detail was well thought. The breakfast was exquisite. Deena the cook is so talented. The rooms took you back in time. It was a very different experience. I would like to return one day.

I am unable to respond to this as I do not know when they stayed. I am also unable to understand if someone came into the house and left his wallet?

Hi! I'm happy you enjoyed our famous Creole Breakfast! I'm sorry that you were disappointed with the rooms and staff relations. As you can see by our other reviews, our staff is on the top of our ratings so I truly apologize you had an abnormally negative experience. We will make sure to address this. We also like to reiterate that the Degas House is world renowned historic home built in the 19th century. While we make sure all safety and sanitary standards are up to date and satisfactory, we are limited on the structural modifications we can make in order to preserve the historic integrity of the house. Usually guests find this vintage and antique experience to be a part of the charm! As a result of this review, we will be sure to take note of potential improvements within our historic home guidelines. Thank you for your feedback!
