Liked location—ocean view—room was small and resort fee high—excellent breakfast

Beautiful Spanish style hotel. Enjoyed a few dinners and cocktails at the hotel restaurant which was nice. Location is two blocks from the beach and two blocks from downtown. Bring your walking shoes cause although everything is close, the area is very hilly.

The property was historic and easy access to downtown Carmel

Arrived on a Wednesday I booked the room in February king size bed. They booked me into the smallest room in hotel room #102 next to the staff entrance in the back of the hotel. Room smelled as hotel was built n the 1900. Wife has allergy’s so couldn’t stay in room. I notified the front desk they immediately moved us to room #100 little bigger. Staff was awesome and did what they could to accommodate.

Considering the COVID pandemic, the hotel did a great job to offer services that otherwise would have been lost. The property is large enough for social distancing and we did not feel uncomfortable at all. The only issue was we were not able to get a king size room that we had requested through Orbitz.

Beautiful, niche resort located in a residential area, and walking distance to the beach, shops & restaurants in Carmel.

Beautiful property, but no AC during hot days. Excellent service and friendly staff.

The property is beautiful. Great breakfast included in your room fee, nightly wine reception, and cookies and milk in the evening. Loved the bar - dark wood and low lighting. The front desk employees were not super knowledgeable, but the shuttle driver that took us to our dinner reservation was. 2 block walk downhill to the beach, which was gorgeous. Get ready for the walk back uphill. There are not many sidewalks in the area, so waking to dinner and shops not really an option, but the hotel has a free shuttle. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel had everything we needed. We didn't really have to leave the property of we didn't want to. Food was excellent, service was the best, drinks were plentiful. We loved it.

Beautiful property, friendly staff, terrific breakfast

Two receptionists could not explain charges. Room was unbearably hot all night despite having windows open. Mini fridge cycled on and off all night making tremendous noise keeping me awake.

beautiful hotel with beautiful views from the terrace. Incredible champagne breakfast. Walk to restaurants and shops, as well as the beach.

When we checked in we were kept waiting for about half an hour past the "guaranteed" check-in time of 4pm, but they did offer us a complimentary glass of sangria and bottled water while we waited. The room was nice, if a little beat up. The cover of the wall heater was falling off and the toilet ran for about 15 minutes every time it was flushed. We had room 217 which is in the corner and had a partial view of the ocean. Turn down service left two Ghirardelli chocolate squares. Two chairs in the corner with a table between set with honor bar bottled water. Be careful when opening the window though because the windows open directly into the bottles. I sometimes wonder if hotel staff ever stay in the rooms they are selling us. It was all okay enough until we got a 7am wake up call that wasn't ordered. Ugh! Part of the point for us when we go away is to actually sleep in. On check out when I mentioned the wake up call I got a very scripted apology and the amenity fee was removed from my bill.

It's a great hotel. Typical of older architecture, so I'm not sure the "small room complaints" are truly valid.
