The devil is in the details, or lack there of. When you pay a premium price you expect a premium experience. Unfortunately despite spending thousands of dollars for a two night stay, including spa services and dining, our experience was anything but premium. A few examples: (1) no working ice machines near our room; (2) too hot to sleep well - the temperature in our room never got below 70 even with the thermostat set in the 60s; (3) arrived 30min early for spa appointment but was brought back late which resulted in my facial getting cut short and an inability to enjoy spa amenities prior to service; (4) waited on hold for 45 min to get a table for breakfast only to have someone finally answer and tell us breakfast was ending in 5 min; (5) ordered in room dining and when we returned housekeeping had been through but left all the dirty dishes; (6) the service was SO slow at Harrimans- dinner took 2.5 hrs (it took over 30min just for our cocktails to arrive); (7) ordered the grand seafood tower for 2 at Harrimans - it arrived without the shrimp and king crab. Only after asking were we told they were out of king crab. Notably, the king crab is 1 of only 2 items that differentiates the grand seafood tower from the petite; (8) we ate indoors at Harrimans for breakfast and there were flies everywhere. I could go on but hopefully you get the gist. I will say the staff at the Salamander are phenomenal everyone is extremely kind and helpful!

Beautiful hotel with good service. Good for families .

Good resort for families good activities for the kids. Luxury hotel.

The property was beautiful, clean and staff was outstanding.

The Salamander Resort was a quick easy, peaceful getaway. Just what we needed in these COVID crazy times!!

Proximity to DC-area. Walking distance to downtown Middleburg.

My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Salamander Resort and Spa. We live in Fort Washington, MD but wanted to get away to a relaxing, serene environment that was close enough to drive to without too much stress. The quaint town of Middleburg, with rolling hills, scenic vistas was the perfect backdrop to the Salamander Resort & Spa. We enjoyed walking the gardens and horse stables, biking on the trails and into town, swimming and just sitting out on our balcony. We have been back home for just one day and I can honestly say that we cannot stop talking about the great restaurant experience we had at Harriman's on site and The Red Fox Inn in town. We look forward to returning soon.

We had such a relaxing weekend at this resort. The staff was fantastic, food was delicious, and the spa was amazing. We will be back!

Yes, the Resort is expensive, but you truly get what you pay for. What we will most remember, and there are so many great memories (room view, food, bar, main room) , is the attitude and concern of the staff. Can't do is not in their vocabulary, no matter what the request. This is a family oriented establishment that loves couples, families, and yes, dogs. We live in the Washington, DC area and the Salamander will be our "go to" get away from this day forward.

Second time here. Customer service good. Check in an issue this second time also.
