If you ever need a spot for a romantic getaway - I would highly recommend MacCallum House. Picturesque location in the heart of Mendocino. My room had an outdoor porch with a view and a fireplace - very comfortable. Had dinner at the bar - food and drinks were superb. Only had one night - would love to spend a few nights at great spot next time through the area.

Loved being able to walk everywhere. The gardens were beautiful. We dined with an ocean view. We even built a fire in the outdoor fire pit for an enjoyable evening. Wish someone would have pointed out Blair House (Murder She Wrote) and the Hot Tub.

hotel is in a nice location.. though staff could use some help!

The room was nice: spacious, lovely antique furnishings, but was right next to the desk and above the restaurant. We asked to move as soon as we arrived, but were told they were fully booked. We heard every conversation that took place at the desk, as well as every chair across the wood floor below us, and of course felt little privacy on our side. The grounds are nice and the staff is kind, but I would recommend you know exactly which room you wish to stay in and request it well in advance.

My husband and I stayed here for our 5th anniversary. My brother and his family visit yearly so that is where I got the tip. Aside from being prime Mendocino location, it was the small, homey stuff I really liked - a super friendly wait staff at the complimentary breakfast, the ability to check out DVDs and nice robes, wine glasses in the room. Mendocino is expensive in general, but I would splurge on MacCallum House again. Don't miss the Mendocino Botanical Gardens - hence, my nickname.

I booked two rooms-one for us and one for another for a couple traveling with us. Our room was fine. The other room had a pungent odor and one of their windows didn't open--so they had to prop it open with a coat hangar. The booking noted that "We include $14 in dining credit each evening." But when we arrived , the hotel advised us that they had discontinued the credit, so we were out $28 or $56 (depending on whether the credit was per person or per room).

good view from deck. Restaurant much better than most hotel food, service good. Housekeeping in room adequate but not 1st class. Breakfast included in rates. Would stay there again.

I've been to Menodocino before and was enchanted by the rugged coast, cool temperatures during summer, outdoor activities, lovely shops and delicious food. I had been to MacCallum House Inn for their restaurant on my previous visit and decided to stay there for my next visit. I was very pleased with the price- especially as it includes delicious & generous breakfasts. I had the MacCallum Benedict one morning, and the granola parfait the next. Both were wonderful. I had dinner one evening in the restaurant. I'm fairly sure the food was good, but the woman sitting next to me had so much perfume on that I could barely taste anything! Misery! I took my wine (which you get a discount on a drink or bottle of wine each night included in your stay)...anyway, took my wine to my lovely room and just relaxed on my giant bed. The charm of the hotel extends to the tiniest details of the 1880's building's rooms. Little nooks in the bathroom for toiletries, a writing desk which I made good use of and much more. My view overlooked the stunning garden. I've been there before when they host a Shakespeare play free to the public on the lawn. If you're there at the same time as their play series, definitely check it out! The theater company was terrific. Mendocino is a quiet town, with a good arts culture. MacCallum House is in the heart of the town. Yet it's still quiet and peaceful. And you can walk out to the bluffs, the beach, the shops & restaurants and such. The only drawbacks to my room was that it was right across from reception and that I didn't have a tub. The noise wasn't too bad, but in the morning, I heard snippets of conversation. I would have enjoyed more privacy, but for the great rate that I got, I'm very happy with my stay. Not a complaint really. It's more of a heads up for you to check and see what room you're booking as they seem to all be fairly unique since it's not a standard hotel.

Our spacious room could definitely have used more colorful decor and usable furniture. It felt empty and cold in spite of the fact that it was roomy and bright. Deck was nice to have and the fireplace was cozy. We never used the jacuzzi tub. Restaurant was excellent although pricey for dinner.

Everything at the MacCallum House Inn was wonderful, and we will stay there again. Highly recommend staying there. We have been going to Mendocino over 40 years and have stayed in numerous B&B's, lodges, etc. We now consider this one to be the best one in the town of Mendocino!

MacCallum House is a great place to stay. Rooms were great with an old country charm. Free wifi, cable and high def tvs were nice modern upgrades. Loved our stay and the food!

We had a very pleasant stay. The room was comfortable though on he antique side, with a nice claw foot tub. Breakast and dinner were marvelous. The dinner staff was the best, we especially liked the concoerge who was responsible for manu of the cocktail recipes. The only complaint would be that the breakfast concierge was a little bit curt and bossy and made too big of a deal about displaying our breakfast vouchers.

This B&B was beautiful. The rooms were great, the food was excellent, the location was unbeatable. We drove around the area, and this was the best B&B by far. Many people would walk by and comment on how beautiful the grounds were. Hard to beat!!!

We were very disappointed in where we stayed. It was my understanding we would stay in the main house when we made the reservation. We were told at checkout if we make our reservation on line they can put us just about anywhere. It would of been nice for the hotel to let us know this Next time we will call the hotel and be more specific about the place where we want to stay, if we come back. The room we stayed is was comfortable.

The restroom sink had drainage problem, it drains too slow and it got unffresh smell..

We really enjoyed our stay at MacCallum House. The staff was professional and the food was fancy - but the whole atmosphere was very warm and comfortable. Our room (#1) was very nice and the bed was comfortable. We watched a movie every night in bed. The hotel had a nice selection for free and we also found the RedBox in Fort Bragg. I liked that breakfast was included and we received $14 vouchers for drinks or whatever in the evening. We loved walking/jogging along the headlands and we enjoyed the guided walking tour of Mendocino.

Spent the 4th and 5th of July for a romantic getaway. Chose a room in the garden with a private deck and jacuzzi over staying in the main house--we were happy we did. The main house looked fine, but we preferred our privacy and the jacuzzi.

Nice place but: 1) We found it very cold overnight. We discovered in the morning that the staff had left one of the windows ajar behind the blinds. 2) Water power was really lousy, and if an effort to adjust the shower head fell apart. 3) An employee was openly complaining about a work issue to co-worker in front of guests 4) When we arrived in our room in late afternoon we wanted to lie down before dinner, but a rock band was playing loudly downstairs. Unfortunately, the hotel management did not feel compelled to compensate us for these inconveniences.

The included breakfast and nightly entertainment on the premises made this a great value. Being within walking distance of shops and restaurants and ocean view was wonderful.
