We had no complaints. It was a beautiful historic hotel surrounded by lovely gardens and peaceful surroundings!

The hot tub was very nice to unwind. The hotel was very quiet and relaxing

Best view on the Island.

Really nice experience. Great location. Just far enough off the main drag . House keeping staff was awesome. No daily service due to Covid but any requests were taken care of immediately. Attached restaurant has incredible white fish . If you go sit in Anna’s section she is a rock star server and an awesome IPhone photographer! Bike rental is right out the front door . A great view of the harbor and awesome seating to enjoy the sunset . We will definitely be back !

Wonderful staff. Excellent food in the restaurant.

Beautiful historic hotel with amazing views. As with all historic hotels there is no sound insulation but people were very courteous of quiet time. Wood definitely go back.

We were placed in an "attic" room with dormered ceilings. We had to actually duck down under the dormer to get around the bed and to the other side of the bed and to the bathroom. Very dangerous. I smacked my head once and bumped it a couple of times despite trying to be careful. The room is tiny so there is no other place to go besides under the dormer to get from one side to the other within the room. We had to place chairs around the bed to remind us not to just walk around but, rather, to duck first. Complaining to the management accomplished nothing. They offered us another room on the same floor (4th) that was no better than ours. I don't understand how these 4th floor rooms can meet the building codes. The management really didn't care.

Really loved the closeness to shops and restaurants

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Dipping coffee on the great front porch rockers while horses & bikes & people passed was so serene! The rooms are lovely & freshly decorated, giving the historic hotel a modern, clean feeling. Coming back from a chilly wandering to a roaring fire in the lobby fireplace was a real pleasure.

It was a nice one night stay. Location was great, just outside of town. Check-in and baggage transport went smoothly - This was the only time we interacted with staff and they were great. Room was clean but very small with slopped ceilings which made it difficult to walk around/sit up on one of two beds. It was booked on Orbitz at a reasonable rate though. Indoor pool was dated but clean.

Excellent staff. Didnt get to use hot tub or sauna. We are definitely looking forward to the new renovation to be complete. Excellent view. Love watching the Great Lakes Cruise ships dock in front of the hotel. Cant wait to go again. Thank you for wonderful stay. Including having the fire warm to walk into after the down poor getting off the boat. - Charity Bukoski

Good location and beautiful hotel and grounds. Bike rentals available.

Beautiful view and location. Very comfortable room and loved the rocking chairs on the veranda. Close to Main Street for shopping, restaurants, and rentals. Highly recommend Island House Hotel for future guests!

It is very close to the main street and walkable to the Grand Hotel and carriage tours. The building is one of the first hotels on the island, and had been added on to several times. Because of the additions, the 4th floor, where we stayed was not accessible by elevator, which was stated when I made the reservation. What wasn't clear was that we would get off the elevator, go down some stairs, down a hall, up some more stairs, turn, up more stairs. To make it more challenging the 4th floor is divided into 2 separate sides, and we took the wrong side initially, so rather frustrating. After a couple of trips we got used to it, but it is a quirky building so it be forewarned. We also signed up for the 96 club, gain reward points by shopping/eating at specific places. We hoped to use the rewards for our breakfast the last day, but were told we could not since we were already getting a deal on the breakfast. Disappointed with that but the breakfast buffet was very good.

The room you booked is listed as 'Economy Room, 1 Queen Bed (Stairs Only, Smallest Room, Dormered.)' Our building is over 165 years old, and with this comes unique spaces, which is very common on Mackinac Island. We find that a lot of the guests who book these rooms, have described them as charming and love the atmosphere they provide. However, we understand that this room type is not the right fit for everyone, and we have plenty of other room types available to accommodate those needs. We recommend contacting the hotel when staying at a historic property if you have specific concerns regarding your stay.
