THOUGHT IT WAS A CUTE BOUTIQUE HOTEL. I WAS WRONG! When I checked in the attendant asked if I would be staying the entire night. This was a weird question. Then he gave me a card to fill out that was a contract of sorts to refrain from prostitution. What? Where do they do that at? That was quite informative...Then, I was told I had to provide a deposit for the key and remote control for $5. What? I could go on about the ice machine that costs a fee, the broken door lock, the contractors banging away to renovate at 7 am amongst other things but I won't because I just can't waste another second. I have to put this awful experience behind me. DO NOT STAY HERE!

Great motel for a great price! Love staying here whenever I visit California

Alvarado Street is old downtown LA, not a largely Hispanic enclave with lively street markets. Casa Bell is the old fashioned rooms around the parking area motel that has been reasonably updated. Good workspace and lots of outlets for convenience. Breakfast is minimal and no place to sit but take it back to the room. Internet is relatively slow. The jewel in the crown in Langer's Deli and Restaurant, one of the great ones about six blocks away featuring real Jewish deli treats. They even ship Pastrami sandwiches around the country. For a deli aficionado, it's worth the trip to Casa Bela. Downtown LA attractions, Art museums and Disney Hall less than 10 mins away.

This hotel had the best reviews for the area where we were staying. It's older, but the room was clean. The free breakfast basically consisted of cereal, English muffins, toast, coffee, tea, milk, & orange juice. I thought is was pricey for what it was, but the price was inline with others in that area.
