Great location but it’s a budget hotel with very little to offer. The toilet seat is too small and you have to hold the flush valve a long time for it to work properly. Shower/bath is slim and slippery. Be carefull as my spouse fell. We stayed a week and only had the linens changed once. I have dirty linen photos but when ll not post here. You’ll need to open the window for proper ventilation. Matress is lumpy. If you need ice, go to the bar and pay buy the cube. Great view of park from our room.

My experience was mostly good, although I did have a problem when I went to check out. Orbitz had sent me a confirmation stating clearly that the check out time was noon, and I went to check out at noon, at which time I was told that the check out time was 11am. The Check in/out person was not particularly pleasant about this, and indicated that it was a problem that I was checking out late. I told her that packed in my bag was a copy of the confirmation from Orbitz stating noon was the checkout time. The people working at the other desk where I briefly left my bag were very nice and helpful, both when I checked in and when I checked out. Use of the phone in the room is very expensive. I think the hotel has a very great turnover of visitors, which makes it rather impersonal.

Great location - within walking distance to every thing in zones 1&2. Excellent beds and shower.

The Tavistock is in a great part of London, near the British Museum, King's Cross, Russell Square, and more. The price was reasonable in winter. However, there was no wi-fi available except in the lobby, the breakfast was plentiful but substandard, the lighting in the rooms was dim, and the room was small. The lobby was nice and ran classical radio all day, which I like. Service was polite, no more.

Hotel was situated close to trains, was clean and suitable

The mouse running across the bar was the final straw for me. It's in a decent part of London, but there are other hotels in the area I'll probably check out next time.

Great corner room with a view of the square, plenty of space. Had to get used to turning on the dressing table lights from the switch at the entryway—but then we got a lighted mirror! The bed was comfortable; linens looked and felt like brand new. The bathroom offered tub and shower and we found both satisfactory. You do want to use the lift to the left of reception. The one in the center of the lobby, while larger and equipped with a pleasant voice, is inexplicably slow. Staff at the concierge desk was great. We even got the answers we needed about service times at the Abbey. Made up for the clerk at reception who did not seem happy in this particular line of work. This is a fine hotel in decline. What appears to have been the dining room at one time is now open for breakfast only. There is a bar, but the "Lounge" (not sure of the distinction} was behind locked doors. Accessible through the lobby is a "wine bar" offering a small menu with Mediterranean influence in a diner like atmosphere. It was not evident whether this enterprise was part of the Hotel or separate. Room service was offered although we did not avail ourselves. Our plan included continental breakfast, but the complete meal buffet including hot dishes cost an additional £4.50. Evidently this varies according to your plan. If you have the appetite for a full meal between 7 and 10 AM, the buffet is well worth it. This location is served by four bus routes, with several more within two blocks, most of which have 24 hour service. There is also a tube entrance within four blocks.

Quiet room. Enough space for two. Large bathroom. Extra towels provided on request. Staff cordial.
