A balcony with a view!

Maybe back in the day this was a four star hotel. It is in some serious need of remodel. Pealing wallpaper and paint. Stains on carpets and furniture. Does not add up to $407 a night standards. The phots on there website a defiantly from their hay day. For a interconnental I was deeply disappointed.

Tried to check in at 4:30. Was told it would be a “few more hours”. Front deck person needs training on how to handle these situations. Unprofessional. Not even an “I’m sorry”. We had a wedding to attend and could not get ready in our room. Had to get dressed stat wedding venue.

The location is wonderful and the building and lobby are beautiful. There were dusty areas in the halls and commons area but room was very clean. The main hotel elevators were not functioning for one whole day and that was inconvenient and unsafe. The service help was very friendly and helpful.

We enjoyed the location and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The AC wasn't working well but a technician came right away to fix it. We did have to wait in line for over 30 minutes to check into our room. Not sure if that is a normal thing for that hotel.

The property itself is beautiful and the rooms are lovely and comfortable. There was a bit of an issue with the staff however. At check in we seemed to have communication errors with the desk clerk. I’m not sure if he couldn’t understand us or we him because of the masks or what it was but it seemed like check in was a good deal more complicated than it needed to be. He also failed to give us any basic information such as how to get to our room or parking or what rules may have changed due to the current circumstance. Thinking he had perhaps just been having a bad night we tried calling down to the front desk a bit after check in to get clarification for some questions we had. No one at the front desk answered. That would be the theme of the entire stay. We were never once able to reach the front desk via the phone. Check out took far too long. They had one person working the front desk on Saturday at checkout time. This is arguably one of the worst times of day to be understaffed. And while the desk clerk was very efficient and pleasant it was obvious she was overwhelmed. Generally with it being a Friday through Saturday stay I would cut them some slack however it was obvious the hotel was nowhere near its normal capacity. The only other issue we had was that the shower grout was a bit grody looking and the tub plug had a slow leak, but this is an older building and otherwise everything seemed very clean. This was our first stay, and during changing times. Overall lovely.

Location is closed to the plaza which is nice. But the rooms are runs down

Chris was terrific helping us out with a very late check in on Christmas Day.

We love staying at the intercontinental with a view of the Christmas lights on the country club plaza.

We stayed from Fri Till Mon. Never once was there a concierge at the concierge's desk. The people checking you in were rude. Out first room we were woke up every thirty min from a loud thump from furnace. So we switched rooms. Room was dark & very dimly lit. Tub did not drain in the next room. No water bottles in the room. No q-tips.

The was very friendly and helpful. The Intercontinental is conveniently located to shopping, dining and events of the plaza. The rooms were clean and up to date. We enjoyed the nightly live music. The Intercontinental added to a great weekend in KC.
