Nice views, close to water, shopping, restaurants, bars.

Good location near downtown. Room was nice but restaurant was nothing special

Very convenient and centrally located. Nice view and above decent rooms.

stayed here for one night when visiting Michigan Tech. Overall this hotel is good although not perfect. Very clean, the staff is nice and professional. It is quite close to Michigan Tech (about 18~20min walk). A bunch of restaurants and shops are around, very convenient! The free shuttle to the airport is very convenient, it saves you about $15 dollars on getting a taxi. But the problem is that the shuttle is not available for the 6am flight leaving CMX airport. Note that every day there are only 2 flights leaving the airport (airport code: CMX). If your flight is 6am, you will have to get a taxi. A serious issue is that NO free breakfast is provided. If you want to eat in, you have to pay, and not cheap at all. But there are two coffee houses right cross the street of the hotel. The next-door gas station also has a mini mart where you can get milk, yogurt, muffin, and apples. Another issue is the gym is so tiny and the equipments there are in bad shape. I used the elliptical but was so afraid I may break it apart.

On Main Street? Lots of restaurants and the Riverwalk very close by. Good upper level bar restaurant with a beautiful view of river. Lots of convenient parking with the elevator to the lot .

room was wonderful. pool slightly outdated and could use a thorough cleaning. Restaurant/lounge service very slow and chef's favorite seasoning is pepper and meat temps on the rare side

Convenient to campus and downtown. Nice having a restaurant and bar onsite!

The view was very nice but somewhat obscured by the permanent haze on the window. The bathroom ceiling was covered in black mildew. It had been sort of painted over but it was showing through and starting to regrow. The air conditioner didn't work very well. The woman at the front desk told me the "secret" to make it work and it was better after that but if there needs to be a secret it should just be fixed. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean, if very dated. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions, dining advice, etc. I think the housekeeping staff does a nice job keeping an aging property shined up. We had a fantastic trip and we were only in the hotel to sleep and shower so it wasn't worth moving to other accommodations. The location is great. I hope the owners put some money into the hotel soon.

pleasant stay, quiet inadequate parking without being too far

We stayed here while doing a campus visit at Michigan Tech. I chose it primarily because of its proximity to campus and it was very convenient. Our room was spacious, neat and very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The front desk clerk was fabulous - friendly (as were all the staff we dealt with) and extremely helpful. She recommended a local restaurant for us our first night there which was within walking distance of the hotel and we enjoyed it very much. We also ate several meals at the hotel restaurant and both the the food and the service were excellent. Our room was waterside so we had an amazing view during our stay. The only negative for me was that the bed was too soft for me and I got a backache from it, but that might not be a negative for someone else. The hotel is quite charming with its old-style decor. I would definitely stay here again.

Good location for upper peninsula.Nice hotel,no problems.Be Careful of 1 way streets.Right along river.

The hotel was clean and convenient. Just a bed and a bath. Free breakfast was ok.

The price for this hotel was a great value and seemed to have the best reviews in Houghton. The room is nice and comfortable and clean. Bed was a little hard but for the price didn't expect much. The real value of this place is it's location plus the restaurant and bar on the seventh floor. You get a free, good, breakfast with stay and the bar had good food and great local beer. Staff was friendly and helpful. We came on motorcycle and they even have a protected overhang to keep your bike out of the rain.

This is a great location for visiting Michigan Tech's campus...just a minute up the street from the Admissions Office. Rooms are large and include queen beds though the beds could stand to be updated. Staff is very friendly & helpful. There is a nice restaurant on the top floor overlooking the canal.
