Great stay! Rooms were nice and clean, and they followed great COVID guidelines. We had the best time in Hilo, the hotel is super close to everything. And having coconut island right there was also awesome. I suggest an ocean view room, it’s gorgeous

The staff were very friendly. Amenities not good. No breakfast or lunch. Ice machine wasn’t working on 8th floor. The room was filthy. Ants crawling around on the bathroom sink, items behind the bed and under the couch (obviously they don’t move anything around to clean it). Toilet paper wrapper balled up on the back of the toilet. Toilet paper will was 3/4 of the way gone, white crusty stuff on the couch. I dropped Mayo on the ottoman and poured water on and scrubbed it out... what was left on the washcloth was horrifying. You guys need to steam clean that nasty furniture!!

Overall, I would avoid this hotel. They will make your life harder Living condition: 1/5 - The room is spacious, have your standard necessities. - Room condition is disturbing. First, small bugs crawling over the sink top and hair on the bathroom floor. Next, suspicious white dots on the end-of-bed bench. Then, sour rotten smell from the fridge. Had to change the room at almost midnight. - Air condition is loud and right next to the bed, not good for light sleeper. Views: 2/5 - Front of hotel looks nice. But the back downgrades at least two levels - I booked the ocean view, it was okay during the day. There’s a mini park right in front of balcony. Its parking lot ruins the view - I checked in late night, and the back looked like construction site Amenities: 2/5 - Free standard WiFi: Good for basic webpage browsing. Not good for anything above that. I had to do a zoom meeting, did not work well. - Pool: your average community pool. Surrounded by trees, so you don’t have much views Customer service: 1/5 - Get things done, most of time. - Sassy attitude. Negative energy will ruin your trip Check in process: 0/5 - I booked online and prepaid everything. But they will ask you for resort fees which can only be paid in person at check in. Or else they wouldn’t let you check in - My family only had my credit card in hand while I was at a tour. So they refused to let my family in. However, they still charged the card. Money taken but no rooms.

Large spaces, open air lobby, free gifts

This is a very nice hotel with pretty views of coconut island. However, I was not happy about having to pay resort fees with no explanation for what I was getting. There were no amenities. I chose this hotel because the description said there was breakfast available. However, the one restaurant doesn’t serve breakfast. We had to go out and buy groceries along with bowls and spoons after paying resort fees!

I liked the location and cleanliness of the property. I didn't like not having the rooms cleaned each day and the noticeable damages in the room.

We were at this hotel for the big island marathon and found that the hotel is in a great location close to restaurants. The on-site restaurant and bar was very expensive but we found a good variety of off-site restaurants.

This property is beautiful and the staff is friendly.

Thank you for staying with us. Pest control measures are done every month by a licensed pest control company. During the course of the year each room would have been treated on three occasions. Please accept our apologies that theses measures were not enough to keep that roach out of your room. Mahalo.

We apologize for not meeting your expectations notably the condition of your room and for having to relocate you to another room. We do treat 1/3 of all our rooms on a monthly basis so every room is treated 4 times a year. At present there is no construction happening on site or nearby. We are in process of improving our wifi signal. The cabling is competed and new modems will be installed beginning May 17th with a completion date in early June. It is the policy of the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel to not accept any credit card that cannot be supported with a corresponding photo ID. This is to avoid fraudulent use of a credit card and yes there is a $25.00 per night Resort Fee payable at check-in. We will share your comments of experiencing a negative energy or sassy attitude with all the departments to improve and make sure that this is not repeated. Thank you very much for your comments and we will work to improve our services.
