I did not get to stay. The front desk lady was very rude and said since my id said I was a Michigan resident I could not stay at the hotel. After travel back from Lansing to Grand Rapids that really was devastating since I was coming from being on the road and needed to rest until I left out the next day. She also informed me I wasn’t going to be able to rest long before check out so what was the sense of trying to stay there. That was very rude and not acceptable.

We have stayed at this Candlewood several times in the recent past and always find the staff to be friendly and the facilities to be clean. It's a great concept at a good price, and perfect for our needs. They accept pets (we often travel with our Corgis) and are close to everywhere we need to get to while we are in Grand Rapids.

The room was pretty good other than bathroom. There was alot of chipped paint in the bathroom area. I would have liked a simple breakfast with the room.

i prepaid our reservation for 12/17/19 and 1/18/20. Reserved studio King suite for both occasions. We returned on 1/18/20 and were told at check in they had no Studio King Suite available!?!?!? How in heaven's name if we reserved the king suite would they ignore our prepaid reservation!?!? WHY would they give away a reserved room!?!? Then ignored the special request of ground floor due to my husband's disability from recent back surgery while still recovering at the time we made the reservation? I say this because not only did they give our RESERVED king suite to someone else but put us in a queen but it was on second floor! I once again brought up reservation request for ground level...all was confirmed when original reservation for said dates. Check in clerk "found" queen studio on ground floor. We were having to extend by one night due to dangerous driving conditions massive "nor easter" covering upper midwestern states, but, warnings were issued to stay off the roads. We didn't want to chance the life of our friend who was going to pick us up Sunday but the lives of other drivers in Michigan, so had to extend stay for one night more. If i wouldn't have already paid for the studio king suite and room given away and had our car...i would have found another hotel. Regarding the reserved king but being given queen the check in individual tried to "justfy" their wrong doing by saying "Well the prices are same for studio king/queen suites" . As if that was consolation for

WiFi at this place didn’t work at all, which was really disappointing. Also, the bed sheets on the bed weren’t put on correctly, so we had to make the bed ourselves when we got there. So weird. I’ve never seen this at a hotel before.

Came in to the room and wasn’t as clean as I thought it should be. The kitchen was a nice surprise. No breakfast for the morning so that was kinda disappointing. Overall, it was a place to sleep.

Candlewood called me the morning of my reservation. Said they overbooked the hotel, but they made a reservation for a neighboring Holiday Inn Express, and they gave me a confirmation number. I went to check in at the Holiday Inn. They told me it's impossible the Candlewood booked a room for me, because they had been sold out for weeks. Every hotel in the area was sold out due to events, plus a local power outage. I made my reservation 11 days prior to my stay, and there were still vacancies after I booked my reservation. My guess is Candlewood bumped a lower rate customer (me) for a top dollar, last minute booking. Is this how Candlewood treats all Orbitz customers?

Everything was great. Staff was especially accommodating.

If you are a traveler and cannot provide valid proof you are traveling on essential business, we are unable to honor your reservation.
