Old world charm. Good food at Asian and Italian restaurants.

Recently back from a long trip of India, stayed in many beautiful properties Oberois, Leelas, Taj, etc.. The Imperial New Delhi is the worst property I have seen. Horrible customer service and incapable staff. All other hotels I have stayed in greeted with welcome garlands and drinks, this one greeted with the list of extra charges. More than charges we were turned off with unwelcoming and uninviting vibes we got. During the check-in process, they assigned one of the ladies to show us the property, we were totally turned off after the walk. She walked us through the property like she is the jailer and we were some new inmates she got. Even though they tried to upgrades us to the suite, we did not want to waste our one day at this property and walked out and had no regrets that we lost our non-refundable one day stay because we ended up staying one of the most inviting and welcoming properties of our life, Oberoi Delhi. In contrast to The Imperial New Delhi, Oberoi has most welcoming staff, upgraded us realizing that I have 12 years old that may need extra bed and room I booked was too small for that. took good care of us and my kids. My Kids loved Oberoi so much that we made sure we stay at Oberoi everywhere else we went in India, Udaipur, Mumbai etc..

Impeccable staff. Phenomenal pool. Choice of restaurants. Great location.

This lovely hotel is an important piece of history as well as one of the most beautiful. It has never succumbed to flash but its elegance comes out of its extra-ordinary original collections of artwork, prints, and furnishings. My husband and I have been returning here for years and feel that it is one of the world's most distinctive hotels. The staff is a particularly fine feature, welcoming, helpful, efficient. An example was one employee, Suraj, who tended to the unique bars of the Imperial, who gave particular care to us and other guests, making sure that we had personal attention and were making full use of the restaurant and bar facilities. He was especially helpful but we saw many such extra- touches across the board on this visit that make staying here out of the ordinary. The Imperial is a very special place. We love it and will be back. .

I felt I walk to a another era. You will feel so special like I did.

Silence. Cool French linen sheets. Gorgeous prints everywhere. Everything is spotless. Return from dinner to find room turned down for sleep. Truly friendly service. I’ve wanted to stay here starting in 1992, I’d eaten some of the best meals of my life at Danielle’s tavern, so finally bit the bullet and booked two nights to de-jet lag after arriving in Delhi. I must say my expectations were beyond exceeded, this is absolutely the best hotel experience of my life. Forget Shangri la in bkk, rambagh palace, the Biltmore. And most impressive of all is that it’s in Delhi which is such a hostile environment where you could do so so soooo much worse. A city where in the past a shower would make me dirtier. If any city deserves a splurge it’s delhi. I hadn’t been inside since their ~2000 remodel. The whole place looks new, it sparkles and nothing is left of the 70s socialist Indian neglect. Everything is gorgeous. We always took the stairs (4th floor - that they call the 3rd) because the art and displays were so interesting. Just want to reiterate the two most important things: the whole place smells of the orchids that are everywhere, and you will sleep on cool linen sheets, those two things alone are worth the price. PS: breakfast is very very worth it.

Service was excellent. We had an unbelievable variety of breakfast buffet, with a range of food for everyone pallet. The hotel itself was near New Delhi center making it not as hard to get around but please be aware that travel congestion was terrible at all times of day. And, be prepared for air pollution . . . it literally hangs over the city.

This was our second trip to India and this time we spent 6 weeks traveling throughout the country. We spent part of our time in New Delhi at 4 star hotel near The Imperial, but let me just say that other 4 and 5 hotels don't even come close to the quality of The Imperial. It's like a retreat within the city. I could not have been happier with our stay there. Best hotel in India!

We've been coming to this hotel for many years now, not always to stay but always, always to dine and drink in the superb bars. This stay was superb. We had a beautiful, beautiful room and were treated with extreme kindness by everyone. The historic collection of paintings, prints and memorabilia is unmatched and wonderfully displayed. Looking forward to our return.

Dear Guest, Greetings of the day! I would like to begin by expressing my deep regret over the chain of events and the unpleasant first impression of your arrival experience. We truly believe in making the stay of our guests a memorable experience and we were unable to achieve the same in this scenario. I would, however, like to mention that although you were travelling with your wife and children, the reservation through Expedia was made on single occupancy. Furthermore, I would like to inform you there are indeed additional charges for extra occupants and an extra bed, however, the reception staff did offer you a very special package with a complimentary upgrade to a suite to ensure your family’s comfort. I have also been made aware that the Duty Manager did try and provide you an alternative suite which would suit your requirements. Nevertheless, I do believe that the arrival experience could have been more welcoming and this is being addressed on priority with the concerned associates. I would also like to apologise for the demeanour of the associate who escorted you to your room. Her approach, as pointed out by you, could have been more engaging and we have sincerely noted this for immediate rectification. I assure you that we take a lot of pride in the services of our most important asset, our associates and your feedback is an aberration from the customary positive feedback that we receive from our guests about them. I also firmly believe that a guest only provides feedback when they believe in an organisations ability to make necessary improvements. I humbly request you to kindly treat your recent experience in isolation and provide us another opportunity to serve you. I would also like an opportunity to connect with you and would request you to share your contact details with us. Sincere regards, Vijay Wanchoo Sr. Exec. VP & GM
