There was no hot water they never came to give us new towels when we left dirty towels outside

Love the history of this hotel. Parking is not ideal and can make you feel very unsafe. At the time of our stay there was no valet parking. You have to park in a creepy back open lot. They charge for the water bottles in the room FYI. There was no sign indicating so. The staff at the bar were very cordial and fun! Advertised "deal" for Shedd aquarium, but nothing was available...little misleading. Overall experience there was great! It is a great location and the view from our room (lakeside) was spectacullar!

The room was clean but definitely dated. There was someone at the entrance checking to make sure only hotel guests entered the hotel.

Lobby was gorgeous and service was excellent. The room was minimalistic and outdated. Overall, pleased. Great location.

Great location, however the hotel is very out dated, our room was half cleaned, I NEVER saw a housekeeper, the restaurant on site looked like a nursing home… Other than the location this was not an enjoyable hotel and is overpriced compared to those around it.

This is a good hotel I have frequently used. I appreciated the fact that my room was newly renovated. They should continue with as many renovation projects as they can. I had a wonderful view Lae Michigan.

Nice room and excellent view of the lake

Security was really rude, I just went outside to check for my taxy and the lady in security refuse to let me in to check out even when I explained that I was still a guess.

Old

I had late arrival due to a late train and i had to wait for an hour plus to check in. Only one person was on staff for most of the duration.

The high ceilings and the room is very charming. The bed is so comfortable.

Great location

PLUS: The LOCATION! Very friendly staff (Steve was exceptionally friendly on Saturday). Front desk's response to our needs. The view from the 13th floor room, even in the rain. The comfortable king bed. The onsite restaurant offered a breakfast for $9, but we'd made plans to eat elsewhere. Other good breakfast eateries are nearby. MINUS: Classic older building. Cig.smoke smell in the hall the first evening. Windows could not be opened. Central Air only blew cold air; we turned it off. 1 thin blanket-- we finally called for an extra blanket; they promptly sent up a blanket PLUS a very good space heater. It was LATER explained that the heat gets turned off "for the season" the end of April. Pre-explanation of that fact would give better Understanding, and less Angst. I reported that the toilet in our room filled every 10 minutes or so; quiet enough that I could sleep, thought it was a neighbor's. Fortunately, we were able to park near our son's place, avoiding the $46 nightly parking ($52 valet).

Location was great, no ability to control heat or ac in your room though. felt stuffy and hot

Haunted reputation.

Old, quintessential Chicago with a beautiful view of the Sears Tower. Location cant be beat (walk to the Bean and Lake Mich.), and we got a kick out of reading the reviews of the hotel's hauntings. That said, the breakfast was lacking (one day only Decaf), the towels had stains (as did the bedspread), room had only shampoo. For the price though, we were pleased overall.

The hotel’s location on S. Michigan Ave. across from Grant Park, 2 blocks south of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a half mile walk to the Magnificent Mile made it a wonderful location. The front desk attendants and the bellhops were very courteous and helpful. Our room was nice, but with no AC, which was our only complaint. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was great. There was a decent breakfast with very pleasant attendants there. We will stay here again!
