With the first snowfall, Rockwood offers sleigh rides, cross-country skiing and skating.

It’s always summer in St. John, with temperatures typically in the 80s and relatively little rain. But St. John has a high season, December through March, when airfare, hotel rates, and car-rental prices are highest and the island is most crowded. The high temperature in the winter months is typically in the mid-80s, with average rainfall the lowest you’ll find all year. The summer months are hot but typically feature the best prices and least crowded conditions. Several of the island’s resorts often have attractive offers for the low season, which makes staying in luxury affordable. Temperatures in the hottest months, July and August, hover in the high 80s to mid 90s, and rain is merely occasional.
It’s best to stay away from St. John in September, when rainfall is highest and the island is potentially in the path of looming hurricanes.
