If youre looking for the best deals on flights to Acapulco, Orbitz.com can help you find them. Whether you plan on visiting one of the areas architectural wonders like the Capilla de la Paz (Chapel of Peace) or visiting one of the fabulous golden beaches like Hornos Beach, youll find something to do that will help make it the trip of a lifetime.
When your plane arrives in Acapulco, youll be landing at Acapulco International Airport, also known as General Juan N. lvarez International Airport. The airport is located sixteen miles southeast from the center of downtown Mexico. Most visitors to Acapulco fly into Mexico City first and transfer, although there are direct flights from cities like Atlanta, Newark, and Houston. The airport has plenty of onsite services and amenities for travelers, including restaurants and VIP lounges.
If youd like to take a taxi from the airport once you land, the fare will cost you about $25, and it will take you about half an hour to reach the citys top hotels and resorts. Taxis dont have meters, so make sure that you speak with the driver and agree on a price before you enter the cab. If youd like to take a bus, the Servicio Colectivo is located in the front of the terminal and runs from the airport into town every ten minutes until the last flight of the day arrives. The bus, which costs five dollars, can stop anywhere along the route as long as you tell the driver where to go.
Acapulco has a dry season and a rainy season. Dry season runs from November to May, and its considered one of the best times to visit the area. Average daytime temperatures at this time average around 88F, although theyre usually much hotter. Rainy season lasts from June to October. Dont be afraid to visit during this time because most of the rain takes place overnight, resulting in sunny mornings that are filled with the scent of new blooms and fresh rain. High temperatures during this time hover around 90F. Pack what youd usually pack for warm climates, including t-shirts, shorts, and light dresses. You may want to bring long pants for evenings when it can sometimes get a bit cool, especially during dry season.
There are so many things to do in Acapulco that you wont find time to do them all. Golf aficionados can check out Tres Vidas, considered one of the best golf courses in the country. If youre more comfortable watching adventure from the safety your seat, watch the La Quebrada cliff divers jump off the cliffs at night while you have an exquisite dinner at La Perla restaurant. Dry season is the most popular time of year to visit Acapulco, but people visit year-round and have a great time no matter when they come. Youll be able to find better prices on things like hotels if you do end up traveling during rainy season.
Use Orbitz.com to book your flights to Acapulco so that you can get the best deals possible. Whether you spend all your time enjoying its outdoor activities or whether you prefer to watch other people enjoying them while you soak up the sunshine and margaritas, Acapulco has plenty to offer.
Acapulco promises lots of sunshine, and other than the rainy season from June through October, visiting Acapulco is a pretty sure way to get a good tan. Just as reliable as the sun is the heat. Daytime temperatures average around 90 degrees for most of the year, while lows linger between 70 and 75. Most visitors prefer to come in the drier winter season between December and April. Days are warm and sunny, and evenings are mild. Prices shoot up during this busy period, reaching their highest during holidays such as Christmas, Semana Santa (just before Easter), and spring break.
Watch for partiers to hit town the heaviest in the week leading up to Lent, when Carnival brings its decadent core to the Costera. While the celebrating doesn’t reach the grand scale of that in New Orleans or Rio de Janeiro, it’s by far Acapulco’s most “gone wild” event.
During the rainy season, the humidity can be downright stifling at times. Random large storms may roll through at times, but mostly the rain is contained to brief showers in the late afternoon or early evening. July and August are the hottest, most humid months. So if you travel then, make sure you book air-conditioned accommodations. July and August also hop with Mexico’s national summer travelers, and prices will spike right along with the temperature, humidity, and crowds.
To avoid the droves and get better values, consider September through November. May is another prime time since it’s on the heels of spring holidays and comes right before the hectic summer travel.
