Staff was rude and came up to us yelling. We were standing outside talking and had music on our phone playing. Was not loud. Phone was in my back pocket. We will not be going back.

Mature fig trees made this “throwback” property to the motor court days a nice plus. Great location with all types of retail and services at your doorstep.

did not like there was no temp control in the room

I don’t know why they will ask for $100 cash for deposit money

This place was very disappointing. Dirty, old, uncomfortable and extremely noisy. Sounded like we were on a speedway.

All good

Location is great! Peaceful surroundings

Close to town, and economical, pleasant staff, Bus stop in front of facility.

Rundown. Needs many updates. Staff was nice but property was rough. Difficult spot with steep entrance.

Close to everything with a fun vibe. Old style motel that’s great during a Covid pandemic.

Very basic little bit old dated hotel, it is okay for short stay, breakfast is very simple, but free. Location is very good, 5min drive to downtown, shopping and dining walkable distance. Recommended gor short stay, because price is very cheap.

Great place clean and quite! Access to our particular room was tricky but overall great value

Horrible hotel! Very disappointed! We were not sure if we were going to make it to morning because hotel is not safe. No locks, ice cold rooms that you have no control of the AC, very expensive for the condition of the hotel. Also, there were lots of bugs, bugs EVERYWHERE in the room! Will NOT go back!

Older dated property beds were clean but old burn marks in spread and torn curtains were visible in some units. In spite of questionable maintenance parking lot was full . On two occasions found people sleeping in cars in the parking lot and large motorcycle group crowd in parking lot Friday and Saturday nights.. very meager “continental breakfast” and only 2 tables in the badly maintained office area. Large property on a hillside. Not an easy trek for some folks to the breakfast area and no place to park around the area.

This was the absolute worst hotel stay ever. They had a bunch of rooms in the back of the building that were flooded, they rented them out with sopping wet carpets and damp, dirty bedding. We were offered two other rooms which were in even worse condition so we had to end up driving back home in the middle of the night and cutting our vacation short. The sad part is all three ladies at the front desk were well aware that the rooms were in this condition and all tried to blame one another for renting them out.

For $55 you can’t beat this place. It’s not a five star hotel obviously, but the mountain cabin feel was perfect. The room was clean and the staff were very pleasant. I was a little uncertain at first sight, but I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone who doesn’t need anything fancy.

Hi Tracey, We received numerous complaints from rooms on your floor and downstairs about loud music and men between 1 and 3 am. After 10pm, all guests are expected to be considerate of others and observe quiet hours like every other hotel in the country. A staff member asked you numerous times to turn your music down, to which you responded that it was coming from the guests below you. At one point, our staff member was even cursed out by a member of your party-- which we DO NOT tolerate whatsoever. Quite frankly, you should be counting your lucky stars that we did not hold you financially responsible for the first night stay of the guests who complained, as it is our policy to do so when this situation takes place. Thank you for letting us know that you will not be returning. As of October 10, 2021 you and your party are no longer welcomed back on the property due to the events that transpired. Good Day.

In the future I recommend trying one of our Wide Bay rooms! They all have their own AC/heating unit. The Appalachian King building was originally made in the 1930s and still uses a central air system.

The $100 deposit is to discourage smoking in the room, as well as in case of any incidental damages that might occur during a stay. It is listed on all websites so that our guests can be aware of it before arrival.

Some of our Appalachian King rooms are fairly close to the road; for a quieter experience it might be better to book a Wide Bay room, which are in our back building and more displaced from the roadway!

Now that the busy season is slowing down we're working on using the freed up time to deep clean through all of the rooms in the hotel and get everything into top shape! And yes, Asheville is quite the hilly area!
