I agree with another post that described this as a half-way house. It doesn't come across much as a standard hotel. We were happy with our large room and employees Fono and Barbara were worth their weight in gold. Otherwise, this hotel had some disturbing elements.

This was the worst place I ever stayed at. Everything was just awful not one good thing to say

Wasn't well keep

The room had been cleaned, but not the restroom. There were dirty Tampons in the trash, the sink and shower were dirty along with used soap in the shower and no towels at all. They just oh sorry and attempted to clean, though the sink and toilet looked dirtier then when i arrived! Drug dealers hang out outside along with homeless rifraff. I was even warned by one girl outside not to talk to anyone as one of them about 5 people a few days prior across the street. They lock the doors after a certain time at night and so if you come back late you have to knock on the door and wait till someone let's you in.... Also they fail to mention that part at check-in. I ended up still paying for one night, but I there was no way I was sleeping there. I checked out and went to a different place.

The room was not what was pictured. It was filthy and very run down. The location was convenient, only 5 minutes from the train station and 15 minutes from the airport. However, it is located in what seems to be a very unsafe part of town. The staff was very accommodating. They provided a free shuttle to/from the train station and airport.

unsafe

Not a thing

There were bums hanging out. I didn’t feel safe. The refrigerator was taken out because it was broken. It was sitting in the hall. The continental breakfast was empty and a mess with bums sitting in the area. We did get coffee.

Horrible neighborhood, dirty room and people eating out of trash container in parking lot. Loud drunk guests party all night!

Nice city but bad property, prostitution, drug deals inside and outside of the property.

Do NOT Make RESERVATION EVER at this Hotel Econo Inn EVER AGAIN do not make it for anyone else ever PLEASE I do not want anyone to experience the horrible experience we (my mom and I ) had!!!! My mom and I booked a train ride from Seward to anchorage, then we booked hotel, as soon as I got confirmation from orbitz I called hotel to make sure reservation went through, and notified hotel late check in. The day of our train ride I called hotel Econo Inn 642 E 5th Ave to confirm and let them know again late check in, they confirmed reservation and made sure we had a room for our arrival. When we arrived at 11:30pm no room they sold out and over booked! They called their sister hotel EVERYTHING Was TERRIBLE EXTREMELY TERRIBLE We got a room with sister hotel after 1 am No elevator, Had to hike a 3 flight stair in another building HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE Would have been better off staying at train station for the money we spent for a 4 hour stay NEVER AGAIN will I book at this hotel and orbitz I will go through someone else or make sure I get better accommodations on my own Got a room for less then a Four hour stay since we had to leave at 4:30 am to catch train from Anchorage back to Seward The shuttle was the only thing that was reliable the driver that picked my mom and I up at hotel to take us to the sister hotel was extremely helpful and he took us to the train station at 430 am but nevertheless DONOT EVER BOOK this HOTEL to anyone you can do better Thank you

Filthy, falling apart, smelly. Brushing up against one of the walls left a greasy dark streak on my clothes. Lots of people loitering around the door and parking lot. Glass in the parking lot, as if someone had broken a car window recently

On 6/26/18 I contracted through Orbitz for a four night stay at Econo Lodge in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, for the nights of August 31 through September 3, 2018. The management never cleaned the room once in the 4 nights. The key card for my room door failed to work frequently, such that I had to go back to the desk many times to have it reactivated. Water on the roof above my 2d floor room, and/ or the shower piping caused the interior wall opposite the shower to deteriorate due to the plaster buckling. Management accused me of body slamming someone against the wall, which is totally false. No fighting occurred in my room, Econ Lodge is attempting to place a bogus $200 charge against my debit card, in addition to the $398.72 charge that I contracted for on 6/26/18. The hotel refuses to answer the phone 907-274-1515 to discuss this bogus charge.

Close to food places and the mall. Within walking distance which is awesome.

We did see the rooms--not what we reserved. Management offered to take us to another motel--it had bad reviews. We found another one on smart phone.

One day only. I wasn't expecting much I didn't get much.

Awakened 2 out of 3 nights by people screaming in the hall way. Busy street within a few feet of the hotel. Lots of traffic noise, sirens and loud trucks. Furnishings in poor condition. Barely fit in the cramped corner shower, which leaked all over the floor. Sheets and towels seemed clean, hot water and free internet. Airport shuttle for $10 each way. Bottom line, I saved $400 over my original booking at the Marriot. I would not recommend this hotel.

Near santa monica beach, just one night stay is fine.

Did not really feel safe there. However, it was not too far from the nicer part of town. Too much traffic and there were a number of street people always around the Motel.

it is just a basic room to say. the front desk employees are very nice. Good for one night .
