This is the worst Hotel that I ever being, the rooms are really old, a lot of humidity plus the AC never work. I call everyday for that and nothing change. The food is literally garbage, you never will found at lunch or dinner decent meat to eat. The reservation for la carte you have to do it by computer and when we get there Friday all days and all restaurants was full. This was my 3rd time on Mexico because before I was at the Barcelo , bad mistake to change that this time. Only good thing about this was some of the employees. I left my engagement ring at the room and I call right away from my checkout and they told me I need to send and email, for me that was ridiculous. Pictures are not accurate at all, also I have VIP privileges and I didn't receive anything.

Lovely Friendly hardworking staff! Excellent foods! Beautiful grounds... plus excellent entertainment. Ask for YAMILE at the Coba Spa for the best massage! Thank you Oscar, Olivia, Alfredo and Daniel for your sincerity and kindness! My sister and our sons had a blast! Hoping to see you again for an excellent rest and relaxation! Our room is outdated but very clean. They are remodeling other sections now...

Now this review may sound like a very disgruntled customer, and it is. However I wrote a little of this review each day as we experienced “the best” of what Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal has to offer. My hope is that this narrative review saves someone else from making the $9,000 mistake I did in bring my family of 7 here. The best way the describe this place as you pull up is a thin veneer of luxury that is quickly revealed to be covering up a property that has seen better days. First, we arrived at 3:00pm on a Friday afternoon. There were 4 front desk attendants working and only 2 had people waiting behind the ones that they were helping so we figured it would be too bad. A hot and sweaty 50 minutes later we were finally on our way to our rooms after it took them 15 minutes to find a room type that we had reserved and paid for. When we wanted to get dinner reservations for 7, we waited another 40 minutes in line to talk to the ONE concierge that was working for a very large resort. When we went to our sons’ room to get them settled, the roof was leaking and there was a giant puddle in the floor. They had to have known because someone had pulled the bed away from the wall so it wouldn’t get wet. This resort has no concept of customer service. When our son accidentally locked himself out of his room, the floor butler of our building, which is 100 yards from our son’s building, told my wife he was too busy to help her and go to the lobby.

It was nice to be able to enjoy the adjoining properties as well.

Big resort need to use trolly but was enjoyable doing so. Beach is all coral and rocky with limited access to calm smooth waters. Staff was very nice and superb service. Relaxing resort

This all-inclusive resort experience was totally worth every dollar. The property is well-maintained and they have drivers that take you from your room to the main lobby in which a lot of stuff is located. The property is also walkable too if you want. Also, if you are hungry, concierge service will deliver the food to your room after hours of main buffet being closed. If you are traveling during the pandemic, this is a great place to go because the staff wears masks and/or face shields, there are sanitizer stations and for eating, you must use the sanitizer. Most of guests used their masks in even passing in the villas. For dinner selections besides, the buffet, you can go to their neighboring resort for a restaurant experience. I would totally do it all over again. I traveled solo for anyone concerned for their safety as a woman.

Check in at BP Akumal by Francisco has been one of the best experiences we’ve received at a resort. We travel quite a few times a year! Service was good, we did encounter a few hiccups which were taken care of immediately one by Catalino at the buffet restaurant. Secondly Yamile manager from front desk/ or Operations is the most Customer Service oriented young lady I’ve ever met . She truly is a professional who carries passion and proves that she loves what she does. BPA is very lucky to have an Asset like Yamile representing Bahia Principe. Israel from the seafood restaurant also made our stay very pleasant. This was our first time at BPA and rest assure it won’t be our last one! Thanks to all of you that made our stay better than expected!

Rooms are slightly outdated, beach isn't the best, a little small and rocky in places. Great overall

It was impressive at how large of a property this resort was. The restaurant choices and the availability were fantastic. The beach areas were beautiful. The breakwaters created calm pools and the fish that enjoyed these calm pools along with the people were beautiful. Very few negatives, however I would say that there could be more bathrooms around the pool and beach areas. Sometimes difficult to find in dire needs. Also the rooms could use some updating to compete with some other properties I have been at. But other than that it was an amazing experience. Oh and the animals on the property are a plus, well I am an animal person so I enjoyed having these exotic creatures around.
